Christmas!!!!!! I absolutely love Christmas. I think I have been making up for the years I didn't participate. My house is covered in decorations, lights, big tree, turkey in the oven, all that wonderful Pagan stuff I enjoy so much.
I enjoy all the other Pagan holidays too. Cracked me up one time when my JW sister stopped by my apartment around Halloween--I had skeleton and ghost lights up and all the things my kids had made. Surprisingly enough she didn't say a word about it.
i mean (assuming dds as "christianity" teaches) what is his typical day like... what does an eons old entity with almost "almighty god" like intellect, and lots of power, legions of deemunz and do all day (of course i'm assuming his day never ends as he can fly about the earth and keep up with daylight)?.
where is his "rebutal" to all the one sided info we get in da bible... certainly he has a beef and a right to talk openly about it (like us).. please don't say he's out to get all the dubs (oops i meant the 144k).
he's already got them in his back pocket.. i really would like to know... .
I think he is laughing at all the JW's who think they have the 'truth'.
alcoholics anonymous claims that alcoholism is a disease.
somehow i think that is just a way of excusing the person from the responsibility that they chose to drink and they chose to let it become an addiction.. what do you think?.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I tend to agree with Mary, that there are certain people who have 'addictive' personalities who have a predisposal to turn toward an addictive substance when searching for comfort. People can have an addiction to many things--food, alcohol, drugs, sex, cigarettes, and I'm sure there are others.
I don't buy into alcoholism being a 'disease' even if doctors call it that; then you would have to call other addictions 'diseases'. The medical opinions change every year and man's understanding of things is constantly changing. I don't hear people calling drug addiction a 'disease', to me it's very similiar to alcohol addiction.

i was raised in "the truth".
both of my parents were witnesses, and so were their parents.
Welcome new ones! Sorry about your story, I read more of them every day and it really sickens me. But I am so happy to live a normal life now, and am happy to connect with other 'escapees'.

Be patient--things will get better. Easier said than done. Teenage life is very hard, even harder with JW parents. Glad you come here to vent rather than doing something not constructive. Writing always helps me feel better, especially using a journal.
today i am 17. i just feel excited but i can't run up to witnesses and tell them... so instead i'll just quietly celebrate with all my friends on the board.
thanks guys-- you make life easier.

if you weren't known to the local congregation and had a list of dubs home addresses in your area, would you go reverse witnessing door to door?
I have learned to much this past month about all the crap that goes on behind closed doors in the JW world that I am getting to the point where I think I would really enjoy marching around at a convention. I would wear a big sandwich board that reads "The Watchtower Society is a Snare and a Racket."
I read some stuff on Silent Lambs this morning that really made me depressed. About all the wives and kids who get beat up by their husbands, and members of the congregation are told to turn away. IT JUST MAKES ME ILL!!!!!
Baptised in 1976 at 13 years old/DF'd 1984/reins 1987/faded in & out for several years/privately disassociated myself 12/92
Parents are not JWs/older sister is still active JW but stopped shunning me around 1993 after my mother died, not sure why and we have a good relationship as long as I walk on eggshells around her and say nothing when she hands me or my kids literature--which is promptly tossed in trash when she leaves. She lives out of town so I only see her a few times a year.
