The most repulsive thing ever said to me by the elders was when I was separated from my first husband, who had drug/alcohol/temper issues was this: if he comes knocking on my door even if he's drunk and it's the middle of the night, I am to let him in to have sex with me anytime he wants it. I remember thinking--yeah right, I'm just here for him to use me. It really made me sick and I remember telling my JW friend and my JW sister about it, and I could tell it bothered them too. I would never allow someone to disrespect me like that.

The most condescending thing said to you by the (sm)elders.
by diamondblue1974 ini wasnt the most academic of children although i had some capability but i could read quite well by the time i was 4 years old at least for my age; i have always read as a child and still read now as an adult both professionally (research) and for pleasure.
i have always been able to write too...and pretty much advanced as well as my peers did in school...perhaps i am lucky, i certainly feel like i am when illiteracy amongst adults and children is rife at present...however.. i remember when i was 16 the wts in the uk were pushing through a scheme teaching those who were not as able to read and write...and an elder in the hall made a point of coming to me and suggesting that i should actually attend the training!!
!....i explained that i could read and write well enough and didnt need to be taught basic literacy... he said that i might learn something new and should respect jehovahs order of things and show appreciation...i did decline his kind offer rather abruptly....but wtf??

Welcome PIG! I know what you mean about being around 'normal people'. JW's are like robots or Stepford wives, and if you cross them or act like a 'normal' person--you are out!

Hi bronzefist--you people are bringing back memories. I had forgotten how the assemblies were run. I looked forward to assemblies so I could see old friends, but those stupid attendants did everything they could to make it a serious place and no fun at all. I can't believe all the rules they make up.
Instead of a handicapped section or a sign-language interprete section, they ought to have a roped off section for disfellowshipped ones or better idea--have them wear special purple nametags so everyone knows who to shun! LOL

Sounds like your aunt wants to make things right with you in case she doesn't make it. I hope she gets better, she sounds like a nice person.

Your comeback is hilarious! Wish I could have been there. I hope I'm brave enough to do something the next time I come in contact with a Witness. There are Witnesses at my lightrail stop sometimes, and I am getting really tempted to print some info off the internet and have a little discussion with them. I guess I can't wait to see their reaction to being approached by an apostate--maybe that's not nice, I'll ruin their time counting for the morning cause they'll have to leave.

Would you share a winning lottery ticket???..help please
by morty inok, so here is the situation...... yesterday, i had bought a scratch ticket and i won 20.00 bucks on it...i was heading back to the store to cash it in but, not all of it...i wanted $17.00 in cash and in addition i wanted another ticket..as i was heading out the door, my brother asked to come with me to grab a few things at the store as well...this was not a problem....he got into the van and we headed off to the store...once we arrived to the store, i was still smoking my cigarette so i asked my brother to cash in my ticket for me and grab me another ticket and my $17.00 bucks while i wait in the car.
he said "sure, no problem"...at the same time, he asked me for a loan of $10.00 bucks.
i gave him the money with no questions asked.

He sounds like a selfish pig. He just happened to be going to the store with you and you were the one buying the ticket. He should have used the $10 you gave him to buy his own ticket. LOL
