Love you people--you're giving me some great ideas. I'm going to make some labels, and print out tracts I've been working on, keep them in my purse whenever I go to the doctor's office. I am going to pretend to read one of the magazines I find, while putting a sticker on the front and inserting my own tract inside with all the websites and the 1800why1914 number on it.

grabbing the magazines
by Junction-Guy inwell i kinda started a new tradition last year.
sometime last year i stopped off at a gas station in london kentucky and i noticed watchtower and awake magazines laying on a brochure rack, and i promptly removed them.
well yesterday on the way up to dayton i stopped off at that station again, and sure enough there were 6 magazines there, 3 watchtowers and 3 awakes.

Organisational Re-adjustments
by LouBelle inright so i'm plowing through "crisis of conscience" and have come across one of the ""most significant organisation re-adustments in the moden day history of jws", where they speak about how the organisation will be run because of knorrs' failing health and how extra men will be appointed.
it got me thinking that surely they could have come up with more exciting changes & take overs.
it seems that everything was made to seem that this was a huge & signifcant thing in the everyday lives of us normal plebs, when in fact it went un-noticed really.

If two elders showed up at your front door
by unbeliever inand asked do you accept the faithful and distreet slave as jehovahs channel on earth (or something similar to that) what would you say/do?.
i would laugh my ass off and slam the door in their face.
this really happened to a friend of mine a long time ago.

What would you do?
by pratt1 inlet's say that a young relative of yours is a dub, 16 years old, and live with her dub parents.. she has come to you because she is pregant and needs you moral and financial support in this matter.. because she was in denial about her condition, if she has an abortion (which is what she wants) it would require a short hopital stay.
she is 11 weeks i think.. what do you do?.
1. tell her parents?.

Make sure she gets some counseling before she makes any decisions. Also--if you do get involved, are you prepared to let her live with you if her parents kick her out? She needs to have a back-up plan of where to live if they disown her.

My sister is a staunch JW and the only JW in the family. Last summer she wanted to hire an attorney to force the sale of some property that a bunch of us--siblings and cousins own, about 9 people total; the kicker was, she didn't want to have bad blood between her and my brother, who lives on that property rent-free; so--she lives out of town and had me hire the attorney but she funded it, all the while pretending to my brother that she knew nothing about it. Well I didn't feel right about the whole thing even though I did want to sell the property and get the money, so I called my brother and started crying and eventually the truth came out that my sister was the one pulling the strings. The point is not that she wanted the property to get sold, but she wanted me to be the bad guy and start the whole process and pretty much lie to the whole family about who wanted to sell the property. My brother and other sister are very upset and feel that she was very deceitful and they are not speaking to her. How's that for honesty?

Was John Denver the Anti-Christ?
by sixsixsixtynine inwhen i was a kid in the seattle area in the late '70's, i heard this rumor told many times: before all his concerts, john denver would ask if there were any jehovah's witnesses present, and then ask them all to leave(of course whoever was telling the story knew of someone who had experienced this first hand).
also, johnny carson confronted him about it on the tonight show once(carson often figured into the jw/celebrity rumours i heard as a kid), and when denver admitted that it was true, johnny asked him to leave.
apparently, several witnesses worked on his show and this greatly offended him.

the sister was back with an elder and he asked to speak to my husband...completely got his name wrong.

Wow--I just read over all the posts by "Friend in Need". I don't appreciate you saying that we are laughing at the person who yelled at the JWs'. Contrer Madam--speaking for myself, I was laughing my ass off at the stupid elders who came to the door to harrass the lady's husband. And I was full of glee that those assholes got the earful that they deserved.
