I like your story very much. Just goes to show how all cults are similar in their tactics.

How a JW was instrumental in deconverting me from Mormonism
by Noggin ini used to be able to state, with clear emphasis... and a straight face, that i knew the mormon church was god's only true church on the face of the earth.
i used to be made up of a highly
polarized mormon mind set

Arbor Day: It's the Devil's work! Don't worship the Earth, sayth the JW's
by WingCommander inyep, you heard me.
the previous thread about school made me remember a tidbit about an activity my grade school participated in annually - arbor day.
this is the day when you are supposed to remember to be good to the earth by planting a tree.

Just another way for the Botchtower Society to alienate us from other people, that's basically the only underlying reason.
Glad I got out before I my kids were in grade school so I could raise them to be normal kids!

I wouldn't waste pearls on them, but I do feel extremely tempted to throw raw eggs at the KH.

I found this and am in total agreement. Feel free to answer the Questions.
by jw inregardless of how you feel about jehovah's organization--the true religion, one thing for sure, you will not escape the almighty jehovah's judgement right along with satan the devil and his destructive organization.
how will you save yourself and those who follow you...?
it's ashame that your energies could not be put to a more positive use.

After reading through all this, I really think JW is either not a witness or he's making up his own edition of the Botchtower Society, in other words a JW who is off on his own tangent religion with a few loose marbles rolling around in his head.

Joe--thanks for the birthday wish! And yes I do celebrate birthdays with cake and the whole wonderful Pagan celebration! Love holidays.
And I agree with the poster who says JW is a lot of fun and we enjoy the humor he/she brings to this website. I should not laugh though, I really feel bad for people who are cult followers--I remember what it was like not to have a life or be able to have my own mind and opinions, very sad.

What "Rules" Did You Have In Your Congregation?
by minimus inin our congregation, we had a theocratic ministry school overseer make the sisters stand while giving their talks because he would counsel them on a point of counsel having to do with speaking to the "householder".
(i forget that exact point of counsel) so the sisters knew they had to follow this imbecile's quirks or get a "w".
another rule that was eventually abandoned too, was that only elders and ministerial servants could offer prayer at the kingdom hall......any rules that you had to deal with??

Two people of the opposite sex were not to drive out in field service together alone--they might commit fornication.
Don't go out in service with the same partner too often.
Don't have too much fun out in service.
A sister or brother could not be in someone's house of the opposite sex alone--will bring reproach upon Jehovah and the congregation even if they don't commit fornication. You must stand on the doorstep or be outside.
Don't have treats at the bookstudy every week--reason?--not sure of the reason
If you go on vacation, be sure to attend the meeting in that area.
Do not attend a meeting or assembly that you are not assigned to.
Men's hair must not touch their collar.
I'm sure there are many more I can't think of right now. Remember when JWs or the Watchtower had an article on the fact that a "heart' shaped item is Pagan? Some at the Hall decided that they could not wear heart jewelry anymore.

Also I believe the donation that comes out of my paycheck every month to the RED CROSS does mankind much more good than knocking on people's doors to preach a big bunch of lies.

I would rather die at the big A than live in a 'paradise' earth full of JWs. That is not paradise to me. God did not create us to be a bunch of Stepford robots.
If being a JW makes you happy--I'm all for your lifestyle choice. But it's not the lifestyle choice for me and most people who visit this evil Apostate website.

Jw- the jw's are a hate group plain and simple." I agree with Carla.
I don't hate people but I do hate any organization that is a cult and teaches a person to hate one's own family members, co-workers and neighbors. I feel so much compassion and empathy toward others humans which I had never felt toward people when I was a JW; and why did I not feel empathy and compassion toward others?--because of the influence of the Watchtower articles and the influence of all the JWs' attitudes around me.
As far as the poster JW--notice how he/she never answers the question as to why an active Witless would be an active member of an "Apostate" web site which the Botchtower Society warns their members against on a daily basis.

Anger over disfellowshipping
by jambon1 ini have now spoken with a couple of worldly people regarding the practise of disfellowshipping.
having been out of the org for a few months i now feel confident enough to expose the things that i knew were wrong.
d/f was one of the biggest issues i had.

Jambon1--good for you to inform people. I have been sharing a lot of info with my co-worker on the JW behaviors, and she gets very disgusted at their self-righteous, non-Christian attitude.
