"Worldlings" - What was your opinion when you were in the Org?
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all.. although never a fully paid up, dunked member of the club, i was at times very keen on the whole jw thang.. when i was in, i thought all worldly people were lying, cheating, alcohol and drug addicted, sex obsessed gambling criminals who should be treated with ,at least a very high degree of suspicion.
as per the classic pictures in the 80's books - all women looked like hookers, all men were pictured smoking or with a whisky bottle.. did others here have similar opinions.. i remember being 8 or 9 and my idea of a worldly man was a picture in the pale blue (creation book) or the red one (dunno the name) - i'll try and scan the picture i mean one day, it's brilliant.
it is a chap with a black moustache and a white shirt sat at a circular table looking all forlorn.

Unfortunately since I was brainwashed at the age of 12, I viewed worldly people as all immoral and unethical people, and not to be trusted. Now I view most JWs as unethical people who are not to be trusted!

I just finished reading through all the posts, and oh they make me so mad! The botchtower society I mean.
After I was reinstated, it really pissed me off the way some of the self-righteous jerk JWs still would turn their noses in the air when I walked by, as they were still clearly judging me as unfit for association. UGH!!!! So unChristlike, it just makes me sick. And it is what pretty much a lot of the reason why I faded away and left, was their unChristian behavior toward me.

mama1119 stole my answer, I was relieved if no one answered the door. The only people that were happy to see me were the few return visits I had--but they were not interested in becoming JWs, they just looked at the magazines.
My favorite RV I had was a lady who was Middle Eastern--can't remember what country she was from but I adored her. She always served this wonderful tea from some kind of leaves, and it was naturally sweet. She was such a very sweet person, I remember her telling me to visit her sometimes without the religion :-)

i think that kissing the top of my cats head is a whole lot less dangerous than paying attention to anything that the 'awake' says. You go Aquagirl!!! She hit it right on the nose, not of the kitty but of the Awake. I love my little Baxter kitty and kiss him all the time.

by Fleur inwhy is it that i have known for so long what to expect of my jw relatives, and they continue to exceed my expectations for crazy-making behavior, yet still sometimes, i am blindsided by a comment so out of left field, so removed from the way that i see my world and the way that i live my life (or try to)...why does it still hurt?.

Welcome! Take looooong coffee breaks, bathroom breaks, become ill on Saturday morning, etc. Sometimes the elders are too busy with other things to notice a publisher that has become 'irregular'.

so i thought i'd drop by watchtower.org and see what drivel they were passing off these days.. one of the lead articles is "should i get a tattoo?".
