Have you heard: "Worldly people just live for the holidays"

while i was a jw, around this time of year i would often hear jw's saying that non-jw's live only for their holidays, because that's all they have to look forward to.

after all, they don't have the wonderful hope of living in paradise on earth forever under the loving direction of jehovah's organization !!

so, for those of you who are former jw's or never were jw's, what would you say about that idea (wordly people only live for holidays), and why do jw's really say that?.

Well I think a lot of people look forward to it all year, partly because that's the only time they see some of their family members. Just my 2 cents.

A question to ex elders or anyone about the remnant

when a remnant dies, is the death reported to the wts ?

such as name, date of death etc is there a special form that the elders have to fill out when this happens?.

also when just a regular jdub (non-remnant) dies is their death reported to the wts?.

i remember hearing this one a million times: "a pioneer was stressing about which vehicle to buy for service, but remember, jesus said '"follow in my footsteps, not my tire tracks!!!

To all those nose-in-the-air JWs I used to know, it's really blown my mind how all you JWs are worse than 'those without faith', as far as being honest, respectable, people who love others as Jesus would.

And to my family member who is still a JW, and once told my aunt that "I was like a dog that returned to its' own vomit", hey I would rather wallow in my own vomit than sit in a Kingdumb Hell anytime!

But you are young, and have not started a family yet so you are lucky! Take it one day at a time. There is an abundance of information available now that your eyes have been opened to the real world.

Oops, I gave my sister a Demon (twice)

first demon - - i sent my jw sister an email with some info about wts.

i just got a package in the mail from her.

course she disagreed with all the info but said her computer crashed right after she opened that email and she doesnt know if it can be fixed.

Company Xmas Party

well i attended the company xmas party this last weekend and it was damn good, loads of fun and good people.

if jws find out and i get disfellowshipped, tough shit.

Oh that brings back WONDERFUL memories for me. I went to my first office Christmas party when I was 21 (and I had been a goody 2 shoes Jdub for 10 years). I got drunk on champagne, danced, and had to be driven home and carried up the stairs of my apartment by my friend's boyfriend. Got disfellowshipped, and have had no regrets since!!!

They make you think there are no good people out there.

what a wonderful response i have received from my last (which was my first post) post from everyone here.

the one thing that was drilled into my head was that you can not trust anyone that is not a jw.

i had only one worldly friend since high school and she has been there for me thru everything.

I would like to add, that they make you believe your non-JW relatives are evil also. It feels great that I can celebrate holidays and keep in touch with my family members and it does not hinge on their religious beliefs. And no one is thinking that I'm an evil person because I don't live up to JW standards, they think I'm a good person because I try to be.
