I've several friends from Great Britain, and this is what they've noticed about the US.
Climate control , especially Air Conditioning
Ice Cubes, the fist sized American kind, and plenty of them, for your 32oz drink (for less than $1.50)
When you go to an eating establishment, and order "a sandwich", you will get a) An attractive sandwich, with plenty of meat on hearty bread; b) A side that is usually included in the cost; c) It will usually be served attractively, sometimes garnished. and d) you will get some sort of pleasant service from a neatly dressed, polite individual (unless you go to McDonald's, in which decent service is a crapshoot.)
After visiting this country, they realized why Yanks are so demanding when they visit overseas. We get used to certain standards, and are surprised when those standards are missing from the older, "more civilzed", nations.
