there seems to be a common theme going on in the jw community.

at the first sign of a possible committment, every jw rushes you (with guilt) to show that you are serious.then, at the first sign of trouble everyone wants you to shoulder your responsibilities.finally, they damn/shun you if you can't handle things or choose/decide to quit.. i've seen this scenario played out with: interested couples rushed to engagement.dating couple rushed into marriage.bible studies & young persons rushed into baptism.any jw with 'free' time (meaning non-wt activities) rushed into pioneer service.young pioneer brothers rushed into bethel.. have you seen the same in your areas?

can you think of other scenarios?

Then, at the first sign of trouble everyone wants you to shoulder YOUR responsibilities.
Finally, they damn/shun you if you can't handle things or choose/decide to quit.

I've seen this scenario played out with:

Interested couples rushed to engagement.
Dating couple rushed into marriage.
Bible studies & young persons rushed into baptism.
Any jw with 'free' time (meaning non-WT activities) rushed into pioneer service.
Young pioneer brothers rushed into bethel.

Have you seen the same in your areas? Can you think of other scenarios?

Don't get me wrong, everyone is responsible for their own choices and actions in life, but the jw community exerts strong influence in the personal lives of individuals, to the point that it is definitely un-christian.

Was The Govering Body Decieved Into Dividing Up The Organization?

what if the legal advice that the governing body got to divide up into all those diferent organizations was actually a very clever sceem to take way control from the governing body,, and they fell for it hook line and sinker???

anybody who has been in the legal department at bethel, for just a short time must realize the gb are seriously full of shit.

that's why i think either for selfish reasons or just plane disgust,, some individual or perhaps several individuals could easily play on the fears of the governing body to manipulate them to make huge mistakes, like dividing up into all these different organizations.

Pleasuredome : i've never believed that the GB do control the ship anyway.

While I was there, they definitely ran the show! During that time you still had 'Freddie the Oracle' at the helm along with his quiver of cronies. That's one of reasons things were so slow to change. Believe me, all of the changes you see now, have been discussed for years, but the gb was not about breaking up tried and true traditions. Don't get me wrong, there were some strong personalities to support them, but it was quite clear who was in charge. Now that these guys are finally too old and gray to fight, the young guys are flexing their muscle. That's why I can't wait to see what they push up next!

i'd like to get comments from people about whether and how much they were shocked, surprised, or otherwise bothered by the watchtower society's becoming an associated non-governmental organization (ngo).. note that i'd like to see these comments because they might lead to some interesting publicity, so please comment accordingly.. alanf

WTS has made mistakes, as we all do. Their judgement will be at the hand of the God they profess. However, their own scripture indictate that He will take into account how WTS and its GB have treated their fellow slaves.

Beware of sending out those from your midst as your enemy! They have the unfair advantage of not having to learn your ways!

You may be onto something.

I know that something big is in the works from all the buzz I get from current bethelites. Everyone, 'feels' that changes will be announced, but the R&F bethelites feel left in the dark.

However, there is a very tight circle of trust up there right now and they are keeping everyone in check with the threat of the apostate label.

They sent the last few potential trouble makers out to 'pioneer pasture' over the last few years. That way they don't have to DF so many and endure the bad 'underground' press. Plus, everytime they DF someone as an apostate, they open up the potential for more inside info confidentiality leaks (i.e.: Franz, Watters, Cabeen, Anderson).

One thing's for sure, there has to be a major doctrine/organization change within the next few years to hold on to the bulk of current membership.

Perhaps it has to do with liability.

All of the culpable decisions were formerly made by the gb, who were the same as WTS corporation directors.

Now that the results of those decisions are coming to light, who do you legally pursue? the guys who authorized the books? the guys who printed the books? the guys who taught from the books? the guys who judged from the books?

Even if you could narrow it down, on which country do you now focus? Each is sure to complicate the issues by their individual legal systems. And through it all, the gb remain 'spiritual' leaders without any corporate responsibility.

Maybe the UN/NGO relationship was not a vain mistake after all? They are learning to operate like a government entity with all of its inherent complexity and red tape.
