I'm honest. I have the same problem as Krystal though, people always think I'm younger. When I went to Cancun, I got carded all the time. It was odd because I thought it would be more lenient in Mexico, and isn't the drinking age 18? But it could've been because it was a resort, so they were more strict than other places would be.

Are you honest when you say your age?
by JH ini know people who don't say their real age, like take off 2 or 3 years.... my mom looks younger than her age, so she sometimes took off a few years.
gee, i'm just the opposite, i rather say my real age, and wait for a compliment saying "hey you look good for your age".
how about you, do you ever lie on your age?

I'm not familiar with your situation but it doesn't sound to me like you've done anything "wrong". In a way, this is the best position to be in. If you're discouraged because of the way the elders have treated you, and you decide that you just want to be left alone, they really can't disfellowship you for that. They are there to help the flock, not to mistreat them and abandon them. They've let you down.

Prepare yourself. Worst case scenario, your friend will talk to the elders and encourage them to give you a shepherding call because you're feeling down. Best case scenario, she'll try and encourage you herself. But I'm quite sure she'll think of herself as a real friend by telling the elders your situation so they can give you "encouragement." Never mind that if they were really interested they would've stopped by without having to be told.

The Wedding Saga...Episode 2
by Krystal inhow cruel can these people be??.
1) my dad informs me this spring that my sister is getting married.. 2) i am of course not informed of the actual date incase i decide to show up.
3) i am sent a wedding invitation after the wedding has taken place along with a little letter from mom and dad.. 4) i get an e-mail from my mom with the link to the website of wedding photos and gushing dub comments.... "what a lovely family" blah blah blah.

Grr Krystal. I know how you're feeling. My mom is hardcore like that too. I wish I could find the words to ease the pain. My response has been to shun my mother just as she has shunned me. I reached out to her, she rejected it, and so I choose not to speak to her or have her in my life. If I ever were to go back to meetings, which I won't, I still would never speak to her, because she's shown me that her love is conditional. What I want to know is, why can't people like our mothers see that what they're trying to do isn't working? What I mean is, it would go so much further if they were to say, "I love you despite the choices you've made. I still want you in my life." It would make the religion look so much better if they were to treat you like a human being. Instead they treat you like something you throw away after you've used all its value. And they expect us to want to come back to something like that? That's family? I'm so sorry Krystal. Hang in there. Love, Chia

Happy birthday! This should be a wonderful time for you! I'd bake you a cake...but I can't bake. I love winter, and I love the change of seasons. So I'm kinda happy. Plus it's almost football season.

Excellent advice Chrissy. Thanks so much for that. We're officially moving this weekend. Hopefully the job interview goes well, and on weekends I will make it a point to go out walking and explore and see who I can meet. This is actually an exciting time for me! Good luck on your job interview tomorrow!

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'm going to try to make friends at local bookstores and libraries, if there's one close by. I love the library, and it's always been a place of comfort for me. Perhaps when I start working, too, I'll be able to find friends. I've never lived outside of NY before, and even though I'm not too far from home (about a 3 hour drive), this is the furthest I've ever been...it's pretty amazing!

LOL...so enjoy not working while it lasts, huh? As long as it's Haagen Daas Vanilla Swiss Almond...that's my favorite! As for cartoons, I loved old school "Jonny Quest".
