Oh yes! I loved Spenser for Hire too, I had forgotten? Does anyone watch Columbo? I liked him too. The old ones, that Steven Spielberg directed.

CoC--Mexico vs Malawi or other countries
by love2Bworldly ini don't know if this might be a repeat, sorry if it is.
i am in the middle of reading coc.
do you think that mexico jw's were spared by the governing body from rigid rules of not being involved in military issues/political party issues compared to other countries such as malawai, because the wts could make more money from people in mexico converting to jws as opposed to some other countries such as malawi?.

I am in the middle of reading it myself. I don't have an answer to your question. It's senseless and sickening. And when I read that they printed the change in Mexico's status in the Watchtower like the government had held them back when really they held themselves back for selfish reasons, it really broke my heart.
BTW, happy birthday!

JW working the obituaries
by Icansaylucky ini was reading my local paper this morning and there was a letter to the editor.
the writer had recently lost a child and the child's obituary was recently printed in our paper.
the writer said she received a letter with a "jehovah witness tract" called "what help for dead loved ones?

Chia
I wrote them but never sent the letters.
I still counted the time.

I love Match Game too. I'm a fan of older crime shows, I miss Dragnet, that used to be my favorite show ever. Jack Webb was the man.
Since I'm a nerd, I enjoy "Forensic Files", "I, Detective" and "Cops" on Court TV.

I get so angry...
by Chia ini just get so irritated.
my mother always puts on this act with the elders like i'm this horrible rebellious child and she's so frustrated in trying to get me to see the error of my ways.
i get so irritated with her.

That's scary Rebel. You could be my sister. My mom was in the exact same situation. My mom gained better standing in the congregation because we were pioneers, and my brother was MS(and later my sister married a Bethelite so she really felt great about herself then). It gives me a sick feeling to realize it had very little to do with wanting what was best for me.
Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I actually am out of the house, and I haven't attended a meeting since I left the house. But these rumors and gossip get back to me, and it frustrates me. As I said before, I know I shouldn't care, but it does make me really mad, I can't help it. Hopefully soon I'll be leaving town and that will be one less thing to worry about, and I can start on my new path in life, whatever that may be.

I just get so irritated. My mother always puts on this act with the elders like I'm this horrible rebellious child and she's so frustrated in trying to get me to see the error of my ways. I get so irritated with her. I saw her today out in service. She NEVER goes out in service. She claims her illness prevents it. I'm not trying to minimize her illness or be insensitive, but if she truly loved service the way she claims she does, she would be out on the days she feels well, right? But instead, she pushed me and my sisters to be the pioneers, to do what it was she couldn't do, because she just has such a love for the ministry. Every time a "crisis" happens in her life, all of a sudden she becomes more spiritual. I know I shouldn't let this get to me...I'm out of there now...but I just get so angry and frustrated.
Does anyone ever feel this way, and if so, how do you overcome it?

Oh man! You made me laugh so hard when I read this! Thank you for that! Too bad I don't have any children or a husband, so automatically "rendering due" and "family study" is out.
Thanks for the good laughs.

Things you shouldn't have liked as a Witness.......BUT DID!!!
by ScoobySnax inwhen you were a jw can you remember things you should've not liked but did?
i was listening to some dowloads tonight and heard "happy birthday" by stevie wonder, i remember going to a big family party when i was a kid, and my uncle who had some dj decks put this one on for me as it was my birthday (none of my dads side of the family were jw) i loved it.......good memories still of this song.. i remember getting easter eggs too, and thinking however pagan they were, they tasted bloody delicious.
better than "ordinary" chocolate bars.

Haha, I always said "You too" to having a happy new year. I never saw anything wrong with that, wishing someone a successful year. Guess that's why I'm in trouble!
I would say "strumming"--Crumpet, isn't that your term?--having a boyfriend, reading any type of book I want, seeing any movie I want, going out dancing, and being my bold and brazen self instead of being "submissive."

Did you know of any JWs fighting in the Kingdom Hall or arguing in the KH?
by booker-t inthis might sound funny but i have heard many stories of jw's fighting in the kh bathroom or arguing.
i remember an elder's wife who was having alot of medical problems cursed out another sister in the bathroom.
she called her everything but the kitchen sink i was told by another sister that was in the bathroom when this altercation took place.

There was a fight at a congregation get-together once. 1 sister was a pioneer. They were rolling around on the ground fighting. Quite a few people saw it, including an elder. Yet, the pioneer did not get removed. I believe she's still a pioneer today.
