  i was always scared of leaving the witnoids, b/c i thought i would become what they said you become when you leave... sad, lonely, drug addicted, demonized, prostitute...whatever..... but here i am...a 20 year old w/ a high school education only...and i'm sitting on the 8th floor in my own office w/ a picturesque (sp?

  ) view of east memphis.

  i have reached a higher point in my life than most witnesses can only dream of.

  What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger; and the best revenge is a happy and full life WITHOUT THEM. When I left I couldn't get over how much of a weight that I felt been lifted off my shoulders. And you are still young and free to pursue any goal without thinking the big A will come tomorrow. I am so glad I am not making every decision based on that concept. Come to think of it why in the hell should anybody the WTS that preaches that sure doesn't live by that or they wouldn't be building, building building all the time.

  How can you confess what you do not recall!

  I remember being in "the back room" with elders one time in a similar situation for "debauchery". I told them what I remembered, which was enough to get DF'd; I dont know why they wanted to know more or want more details.

  Patterson has a pool?!

  i just read this http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?aid=/20051104/news04/511040390/1027/news11 and was suprised to learn there's an indoor pool up there.

  are there tennis courts, too?

  although they don't suspect the parasite of spreading to other pools, health department officials said as a precaution, they contacted the county's five other indoor swimming facilities green chimneys in patterson, carmel fitness and racquet club in carmel, jehovah's witnesses' watchtower educational center in patterson, arms acres in carmel and st. basil's academy in garrison to recommend that they superchlorinate their pools.

  If the WTS was totally discredited in the eyes of the JWs

  if a really big scandal happened in the wts and the r&f realised that the organisation is the big con that it is, how do you think they would react?

  They would react the same way OJ Simpson's jury would have reacted if they actually saw a crystal clear videotape of OJ hacking Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman to death with a butcher knife-- they would find some reason to discredit it and deny it and believe that there is no way possible humans like that would be capable of being that evil.

  Now you are just nit picking. Who frowns on those who have a nice big house? The "friends " do. Not the FDS.

  How long have you been in the organization? How long did you study before becoming a JW? I dont know if you remember many Watchtower and Awake articles talking about materialism "in this time of the end". I remember reading articles targeting young people with pictures of young people looking at a big house (not a mansion) and how the article downplayed it and put it in NEGATIVE perspective the idea that young people should set a goal for having a nice place to live or an education that would give someone the opportunity to support themselves in a way that bethelites are taken care of (they have health insurance or healthcare provided to them as well as recreational facilities and the overseers are getting their car insurance payed for. I know many faithful JWs who make contributions who have none of this). Instead they push pioneering, janitorial jobs, window washing, yard work, etc. After all the end is so close, wouldn't want to lose out and get left behind during the great tribulation by pursing worldly goals. What about them bethelites keeping their eye simple? Have you been to bethel and ate at Bossert dining hall or seen the inside of some of the buildings the bethelites live in, Standish, the Sands building? Very nice living conditions while they tell some of the rank and file who are just barely getting by the scripture Matthew 6:33. Instead of them doing that they beg for more contributions.

  What does it take for you to see what you are saying is wrong. Do I have to dig out the publications, scan them and show you what you are saying is wrong?

  I remember the last time I was at the KH and telling myself as I was driving home that I had enough and that I just could not take it anymore; not because I didn't believe it was the truth because at that time I believed it. I didn't want to live in a fishbowl full of judgemental people whose actions showed that they couldn't care less about you unless they could get something from you; plus the fact that I really dont particularly care for being judged. At the time I was living in a small town with two congregations which surprised me since there are places 3 times the population of where I lived with only one congregation (not to mention my boss at the time was a JW). It was just easier for me to move and make a fresh start. I know many people in that kind of situation does not have that option. I let some years pass by before even addressing the issue of whether or not I was leaving God or just leaving the organization; during those times I just took a break and lived life and and spent time finding out who I really am.

  while i didn't like being a jw there were 1 or 2 good points.

  mine was all the parties and social gatherings we had.

  Around here the congregations got very restrictive about group parties, can't be too large, can't have alcohol, can't be the night before a meeting or field service, can't invite unbaptized people or "weak" JWs, etc., etc.

  That is exactly how it was when I was active, as well as standoff and cliqish. I dont know if I have a favorite thing about being a witness. I did meet some wonderful individuals (most not in the congregation I went to though); nevertheless I am happy to be off the watchtower hamster wheel!

  I lived in a very churchy small town in the bible belt of the south with a church on every corner (Baptist and Church of Christ mostly) whose members did not see any reason to convert to JW religion.
