Universe is 14.5~ billion years old.
The Earth is 4.5~ billion years old.
Human agriculture/civilization started 6000 years ago.
Before that humans were hunters and gatherers living in bands and tribes.
From what I understand, through my mom, the Witnesses believe humans have only been on Earth for 6000 years.
At the moment I had to agree with her because I'm "under cover."
So I didn't go into detail with the fossil records of Homo sapien neandertalis or Homo erectus, which have been dated older than 6000 years. Also I don't think she would understand how we date stuff whether it be carbon dating or ELS dating.

Re: Three and a half billion years
by A Paduan injust listened to a program that presented explanatory postulation of cosmic evolution, and there are certain understandings of progression back to about three and a half billion years ago, and beyond that current scientific framework starts to loose it.
funny how jws believe the culmination of everything is focused on "them in their lifetime" - quite a study in evolution in itself.
for the jws - that's 3700000000 years of projection of framed understanding, not inclusive of the so far unframed - the end is just around the corner, any moment now.

He like just between you and me, and he said he thinks my dad has a girlfriend, and I just said I don't really know, which I don't.
Because my dad said he's not having sex with this girl, they just do fun things together. And then one of the 2 roommates I'm rooming with next semester, I talked to my aunt and uncle about it, and they so made it seem that I should be dating this girl, but this girl has a boyfriend, or I don't know, he's over there a lot and they're all kissy and huggy. But I have fun with them, like last night I went out with my 2 roommates and we dranked and danced and I met her parents too and they were bad ***.
I also played with her little brother and he's pretty fun for a little kid. But today the girl called me when I was at the mall with my uncle and aunt and she wanted me to come pick her and her brother up to go somewhere, and I told my uncle this and he was going to give me some money to do something. But then she calls back and says that the other dude, who I'm not sure is her boyfriend or not just got off work and is going to pick her up.
Also some of my friends that have gotten to know me say I express no feelings whatsoever...what the hell does that mean?
I just feel like I'm getting all this pressure from others and myself that I should be dating or have a girlfriend right now. I just don't see that girl right now. For example, I was looking through my phone book list, and I couldn't many girls to call to go eat out with me. Felt depressing to be honest.
I also work at the clothes store Hollister Co. which only hire hot people. And hey I'm living with 2 hot girls next semester, and I've got awesome grades. Damn whats wrong with me????
And thats all that is on my mind right now. -

I went to a "black" church this morning
by tsunami_rid3r inwow, they sure do focus a lot on praise worship, and the boring sermon was like 15 minutes.
but there was homecooked food served in the back after the services.
i think i might attend a catholic church next weekend.

For real!!!! It felt like a big family. During the service, they had me and my friend stand up to welcome me to their congregation. I was kind of dozing off on the sermon though because I couldn't really understand that old pastor.

Religion is based on ritual. I'd like to participate in that one celtic pagan ritual where everyone gets naked and paints themselves at night. Man thats hot.

To all the faders who still go to meetings
by What-A-Coincidence into the ones who still must go for family sakes .... what feelings/thoughts go through you at the meetings???.

First, I try to spot out all the hot broads. Then I'll space out, and I'll go sit in the back attendant's chair with my dad. As soon as the meetings over with, I make a run for it.

All cultures have a predicted doomsday. The Mayan have even pinpointed in to the month and year, October 24, 2012. The facts: we know our species on this planet isn't forever, we'll either evolve with better traits or become extinct. The environment causes immediate change to species, such as a mass extinction of dinosaurs giving rise to mammals, or one species becoming separated from the group into a different environment. In general, religion places a god with an element of nature. Now, take into consideration of the possibility of the existence of a spiritual realm with many gods. I was at the meeting today, and the talk was about surviving armageddon. Jehovah sounds like George W. Bush, "You're either with us or your a terrorist". Now we know, in reality, there are more than 2 sides in this War on Terror. Likewise, Armageddon began to sound like a war between the gods, but on Earth. To me, it sounded like a time when two realms will collide and people will have to choose their sides in the war. But remember when I said religion tends to place a god with an element because this will be easier to understand for the scientific community. Nature tends to destroy and create life. Just maybe the Mayans predicted a date for a cataclismic global disaster that will either destroy or change Homo sapiens sapiens to a new genus.
