NO it is not like a treacher punishing the whole class for the error of one.
Having my basic rights denied due to the actions of another is undue punishment to me.
But if you want to protect yourself...maybe if you wear different clothes and maybe if you walk home earlier , and Maybe if you go home with a friend you might be giving yourself more protection from a bad thing happening.
Yes. A victim of rape may choose to protect themselves by being more cautious... but they may choose not to. It is up to the individual. It is their right to wear different clothes and it is their right to continue wearing mini-skirts if he/she so desires.
Searches are not conducted by choice. Giving the police the power to look through MY BAG is not at all the same. You are not giving me the choice to protect myself by allowing a search of my bag... you are FORCING me to "protect" myself. (although how much good it actually does in completely unknown)
