NO it is not like a treacher punishing the whole class for the error of one.

Having my basic rights denied due to the actions of another is undue punishment to me.

But if you want to protect yourself...maybe if you wear different clothes and maybe if you walk home earlier , and Maybe if you go home with a friend you might be giving yourself more protection from a bad thing happening.

Yes. A victim of rape may choose to protect themselves by being more cautious... but they may choose not to. It is up to the individual. It is their right to wear different clothes and it is their right to continue wearing mini-skirts if he/she so desires.

Searches are not conducted by choice. Giving the police the power to look through MY BAG is not at all the same. You are not giving me the choice to protect myself by allowing a search of my bag... you are FORCING me to "protect" myself. (although how much good it actually does in completely unknown)

It is like saying all rape victims MUST NEVER wear mini-skirtsor drink to protect them from increasing their chances of being raped.

i was just wondering if anyone out there had similar struggles after being disfellowshipped?

all my life i was a good christian person, then after getting df'd i entertained the idea to do all manner of formerly forbidden activities, since everyone thought i was going to the devil anyway.

Legally - No you do not deserve to be raped. You are quite entitled to to walk home in any way, at any time in any state you want to. You should not come to any harm

Legally, if any harm comes to this girl she then holds the right to inform the police and the person who steps all over her rights should be brought to answer for his/her actions.

To cower and give up our rights in the face of pressure is like saying that girl shouldn't have the right to drink, wear miniskirts or walk herself home because it may cause someone to rape her.

"Go ahead, search me... maybe I have a bomb!" Innocent until proven guilty isn't it?

Should we really give up our right to privacy because some people do bad things?

It is like an elementary school teacher keeping the whole class in for recess because one kid said a bad word.

Don't punish the masses because of the actions of the few.

this had been said already, but I cannot agree with it more: NY.. get rid of the printing, the GB the whole WBTS... let the individual congs think for themselves...

I think that would change ALOT....

Plus if you didn't like one cong.. you could just go to another ... hehe

No, of course random bag checks are not going to stop a terrorist attack, BUT - is that an excuse to do nothing?

If it isn't going to stop attacks then why waste the time/resources doing it instead of putting those things toward something more productive?

Why not try working on tightening security for the long term instead of random checks for a period of time AFTER an attack? Increase police presence (perhaps with bomb sniffing dogs)? Install more video cameras? Do more complete checks on people immigrating into the country or visiting?

(katiekitten: I didn't understand that illustration at all... no need to be snotty, I am trying to follow the thread and post my opinions on it; thank you.)

Its like saying should you be able to walk down a dark alley naked without being raped?
OF COURSE you have the RIGHT to walk anywhere naked. Being naked is not a legal invitation to rape.

Umm... public indecency...you don't have the right to walk around in public naked.

Searching people who want to get on the subway or on a bus or in a large gathering.... ie. baseball game, convention etc. is one thing. If you dont want to be searched you can leave. But giving the police the power to search ANYONE ANYWHERE without any cause is going above and beyond taking "social responsibility".

at least if we are to take the bible serious.

I totally agree with why Jehovah God has at times wiped out entire nations. I am not one to arrogantly ask why? Although I do admit that there are alot, well, somethings that Jehovah has done that I dont understand why. However i dont question it. Call me brainwashed if you want but my attitude is this. Jehovah knows what hes doing and i firmly believe that perfect is Gods activity and that all his ways are just. Upright and just is he a God with whom there is no injustice.

How can you not fully understand why an ENTIRE NATION was destroyed and yet agree with it?

Is it really arrogent for humans to want to understand why hundreds even thousands of their fellow humans deserved to die?

Can you tell me what is just about letting a big brute run around killing people and INNOCENT ANIMALS?

You may very well say that the people were "wicked" but please tell me what grave sin these animals committed that they needed to die in such a disgusting fashion?

If your definition of "faith" is belief that those innocent animals and at best mislead people deserved in some inexplicable way deserved to die, then I thank my lucky stars I do not have faith like you.

What if that had been your daughter? What if they wanted to burn you alive because their faith told them it was necessary? Would you think that god is merciful, gracious and loving then?
