Now, you could argue that the Devil used a vision to show Jesus the kingdoms, but the scripture implies that the purpose of going up the mountain was to make it possible to see the ends of the earth.

This should not be taken literally, a lot of the bible is symbolic e.g. Garden of Eden

JWs, why God's organisation and not His church?

the jws call themselves an organisation and not a church except perhaps very rarely.

but is there something untoward hiding behind this choice?

to me it is objectionable because it ties in with the fds concept as god's sole channel on earth serving his supposed people.

for all you that have studied the subject what are some big distortions of the original scriptures hebrew and greek, that are to be found in the jw bible (nwt)?

i found that at 1 thessalonians 4:15-17 it says that the living christians in the final days will be snatched up as soon as the dead ones get resurrected.

that blows up the jw belief that the said resurrection occured in 1918 because they weren't taken up at the same time.

Why did Jehovah give the job of writing the BIBLE to the Catholics?

this is a thread which was inspired by our own hot little mary.. jehovahs witnesses claim that since pentecost of 33 c.e., there has been a faithful and discreet slave class that was appointed by jesus himself and that this slave class was "entrusted" with all of jesus belongings ( dispensing spiritual food to his followers and the rest of mankind).

oddly, when it came to gods own word to mankind being compiled ( the bible), ......jehovah chose the catholic church to dispense, audit, compile his message!

genesis 6:5-7, 8:21. god decides to send a great flood to kill all humans, save noah and his family, because man's heart is evil.

"and god saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.... and the lord said, i will destroy man whom i have created from the face of the earth.".

later, after the flood waters recede, god promises never to do it again because man's heart is evil.

If one of gods servants talks god into something other than his original plan, then he is allowing a decision OVER his better judgement is he not? His ways are perfect and just, yet his servants can talk him out of his first plan. Those plans involved LIVES of people which is certainly not a matter which you'd think god could let go either way.

God only permits things if it is in his will.

So if I was going to spank my daughter and she talked me out of it sayin she would behave....... then your saying she didn't change my mind of spanking her? What would you call it then?

lol thats not my point.

Although you "changed your mind" you do not change yourself as a person.

Like I said here:

God himself doesn't "change" but he does permit things with his loving grace.

Just like in the bible God called Israel to rependance, in the end he gave them a "spanking" because they would not change their ways, he did give them plenty of lee way for them to change just like you said in your example of your daughter.

Just like the bible says "God is slow to anger"

The fact is....if there WAS a Slave Class exising during the writing of the bible, it only seems true to the Witness teaching that Jesus would have "entrusted all his belongings" to the Slave Class.

I guess thats the problem with "new faiths" with history that doesn't date back far.
