  WATER WITCHING

  do you believe water witching actually works?

  i had lunch with an ex-dub friend yesterday who told me that many years ago, when she was still a witness, her landlord's son came over (they rented a farm) and he showed her that it did work.

  My father was adept at finding water. He did it with two welding rods with the coating removed and then bent at 90 degrees at one end to make a 4 inch "handle". He did it for free and was called out dozens of times to find water for farmers or people who bought a lot or acerage and wanted to know where to drill. I needed to locate a waterline that bisected a three acre lot I owned so a friend that I went to school with came over and used his "witching rods". It took him about two minutes to locate the line. I dug down about 24 inches and bingo, right on top of the plastic water line...

  No coincidence, but I don't know the physics associated with it.

  yay!

  i was brought up as a j/w and my mum stopped going when i was a teenager.

  i tried to get back into it as an adult but spent more time in the bible studies arguing, so i kind of realised after a few years it was going nowhere.. spent years just studying on my own cos i couldnt find a christian organisation i felt i agreed with and stayed clear of church cos of so called.

  for those that were not raised witnesses, do you ever miss the religion of your youth.

  i was brought up in a catholic church and i started missing it before i ever left the so called "truth.

  ok, i'm going back some 40 years into the organization so some of you may or may not have heard this.

  i remember in my jw life, at different conventions/assemblies when the speakers would be talking about things related to the paradise earth.

  they would always say, "if you pictured yourself there, then you will no doubt be there.".

  so my wife just got a job at a huge company where a witness friend works.

  we only have 1 car... well my friend cant carpool with my wife to work because it would be imporoper for a man and a woman to be in the car alone.

  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr im so frustrated.

  Anyone Running for President Should have to Pass a Psychological Exam

  since the president of the usa has such a responsible position i think it should be manditory for anyone running for the office and that a profile be made public knowledge, if it involves some phobia, or serious insecurity that may make him prone to irrational actions because he can't grasp enough to make a rational decision.

  hey all, i'm new to the board, and happy to have found it.

  i'm going to college for the first time (i'm 25 yrs old).

  does anyone have any advice on how to handle the challenge?

  Good on ya! I like to see young whippersnappers like you streching your comfort zone. What I found successful was to make friends with others in my classes and have study groups to quiz each other on the content. How many times I missed a subtle nuance in class that others picked up on and it bailed me out on tests many times. Networking like that not only will improve your grades but it will expose you to many different kids that enrich your life tremendously. Pretty soon you'll laugh that you ever said you had trouble with the worldlies!

  my second choice is steven simon's (the guy who did "what dreams my come") movie about neale walsh .

  "conversations with god" it is in the theaters now.. .

  Personal Relationship?

  i don't mean to be trite or argumentative, but i keep hearing all the time about having a "personal relationship with jesus" as the solution to leaving the witlesses.

  for the life of me, i really don't know what this term means.

  i can only compare it to its literal counterpart, i.e.

For the life of me, I really don't know what this term means. I can only compare it to its literal counterpart, i.e. having a personal relationship with a human. To do that I know the person intimately, like living with them day in and day out. How does one do that with an historical figure that is only sparsely referred to in an ancient book written by a variety of individuals, some of which never even met Him. (Paul of course comes to mind)

  How much of what is called a "personal relationship" is mear emotional attachtment to a composite set of idealized notions, with a generous sprinkling of filling in the blanks?
