I usually don't respond to this type of question but on reflection, it's something we all eventually think about. I feel I've had a very successfull and rewarding life and have made a reasonable contribution to the advancement of humanity, so although not eager to head to the next existence, I'll accept the reality that I'm movin on down the back side of life. I'd like to think I have another twenty years to contribute but will welcome what may come on what ever schedule has me part thereof. carmel

E-watchman replaces Watchtower's weirdness with his own
by yaddayadda inrobert king discredits the wt societys 1914 teaching and in one of his latest essays has now attacked their parousia theory that goes hand in hand with the 1914 teaching.
good job, you might say.
however, he has come up with a couple of radical new interpretations that seem just as bizarre as the societys teaching about christs presence.

Dreamer, Welcome! Nearly 50 years ago I was df'd as a wee lad. It was the best thing that ever happened to me ! Freed from a fanatical cult, a dysfunctional family and allowed to seek out and make new friends. Set a course of making a new "family" and you will live well and prosper! carmel

TheEndOfDoorToDoorPreaching
by LovesDubs in....would it be of any surprise to anybody if the suck-ciety did in fact declare that matthew 24:14 has been fulfilled and they can discontinue the preaching work?
imagine the savings that would mean for them in printing each month???
wouldnt they be able to just leave a pile of study articles for the troops in each kingdoom hall instead of printing billions of magazines left to line parrot cages and garbage cans of laundromats worldwide?

Why is it everytime I turn around I am supposed to be paranoid?
by Schism ini know i know, i have too many worries...this is another one of them.. first, i was raised a jw and was told that we were about to go through the great tribulation, a time when men with guns would come to the house and force us out and cut off my 5 year old fingers for not saying the pledge of alleigance to the flag?
and then to be beaten to death with hammers for being a jw?
i grow up, and off and on for every little thing that happens, my jw family reminds me that any day now i could be tortured and killed.

Wow schism, you're sure carrying an unhealthy load of crap from the JW upbringing! Time will eventually begin to errode away the folly of all that fear that has been inculcated into your mind. I recall only brief periods of wondering about if the whole armegeddon doctrin was really true after I left the mental trap of JWdoom. You probably can't afford the luxury of professional counceling, but you may get some reference books on rational analysis. Can't think of any at this point but there is so much out there one can access to help get a new perspective. I do hope someone here can give you some better advice. (((((schism)))) carmel

Ohhhhh yesss! Can't understand issues unless you are baptized, and of course won't survive the Big A and live forever in paradise without the dunkin! Coersion at its finest. Only one of the finely honed behavior by compulsion techniques of the cult. Why else would a 12 year old submit to such a silly custom. Witlesses along with most all the other followers of Christ focus on the material outer act and complete forget the reality of the spiritual reality that the outward symbol stood for. Where's the baptism by fire? carmel

Does God want us to be rich?
by Bonnie_Clyde ininteresting article in time magazine (sept 2006, p. 50) - jesus said, "for what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
this article states that a growing number of christians say" the question is better restated, 'why not gain the whole world plus my soul?'......
christians should keep an eye on heaven.

Theres a Persian story about a diverish who only survived with his begging bowl. He was well known for his wisdom and spirituality. One day the king invited him to the castle to have the dervish answer some of his troubling thoughts. The king was so impressed with the dervishes answers, especially those about attachment to material things that he decided to leave all his wealth behind and go with the dervish. So the king dressed in the appropriate attire and left the castle following he wise spiritual sage. About a mile away from the castle the dervish stopped and told the king they had to go back. "Why" asked the king. "because I left my begging bowl". Who is more dertached from material posessions? There is nothing wrong with material wealth as long as it is optained honestly and is used wisely for the benefit of humanity. That's enough latitude for 6 billion people to fit within one big human family! carmel
