Would your home be better without "religion?"
by Tatiana ini have a serious question that i have been thinking about a lot lately.
i'd really like other views.
say there was no religion.

You've set up a strawman of "religion" that is significantly influenced by your JW and biblical experiance. I and the other members of my household are very "religious" but we don't live our lives expecting a biblical godhead to somehow solve all of our personal and societal problems. As far as I'm concerned, God had given us all the tools and instructions to move civilization forward, but it's a "do-it-yourself" kit both personally and collectively. So, no, my home would not be a better place w/o religion. carmel

My wife and I joined Weight Watchers last summer and by January had both lost the weight we wanted, 35lb for her and 40 lb for me. I'm now at the weight I was when I graduated from high school many decades ago. It is more a learning to eat healthy as well as control caloric intake than just focusing on low cal. We lost about a pound and a half a week, which is at times tedious, but hey, after six months we were there. Others in our group have lost over a hundred pounds in a year. Our group lost more weight in 2006 than any other in the nation. We're driven!!! It costs about $10 a week if you sign up for automatic withdrawls. Once you hit your target and don't regain for six weeks, you become a life time member without cost as long as you keep it off. Still have to weigh in once a month but that's a good thing. Keeps you on track!! carmel

Physical Chemistry
by Thinking of Leaving injust how important is chemistry in maintaining a long term relationship?
i mean what if you really love this person or atleast think you do, he treats you well, is educated, has ambition, he's everything you want in a man but you're not really that attracted to him.
your heart doesn't skip a beat when he kisses you.

Both of my older sons married into cultures that have for centuries existed on "arranged" marriages. My daughters-in-law both say that very seldom is there a "spark" as you call it, but many times that develops with time. Can't imagine it myself, but I guess it is possible. Personally though, I've made it for 43 years mostly on "spark"!! carmel

After departing the Borg, attending church was more of a curiosity and interest in religion in general, not a quest for spiritual satisfaction. I then embarked on a quest for knowledge of all kinds, always trying to fit in what I learned at university with what cosmology would explain all that I was absorbing. So for me attending church became too limiting, little or no intellectual stimulation and too much meaningless ritual. I want to "know" things, not just perform some ancient rite that has no utilitarian worth. That's why I was attracted to a diffferent pardigm and now see all religions as different segments of one story that like rings on a tree tell a story of humanities expanding evolution, his "becoming" and how we are all much more alike than different. "Church" in the christrian tradition is a bulwork against the world, when it is time to begin erasing the barriers and building a society that aspires to the fundamental spiritual values inculcated in all the worlds religions. Now, with that and $3 you can get your favorite 20 oz mocha with a double shot!! carmel
