Future = Will we find "religion" on other planets! Will it survive on earth
by Witness 007 inif an alien visited earth in the 1600's he would find a culture deeply rooted in religion with little scientific knowledge.
if we travelled to other planets in 2080 will we find jehoovers witnesses??
or some other form of religion...or will they be scientific and logical....will we still be religious in 1,000 years due to scientific breakthroughs in the last 100 years?

by misspeaches inhi guys, yesterday someone asked me on how they could reason with a jehovah's witness.
the question just stumped me!.
from my own perspective, the people i know that have left the borg have had varying triggers... problems with flip flopping, dates, abuse, scandals, exhaustaion to name a few.

JWs are like most fundamentalists in that their belief systems are based much more on emotion than on logic or reason. So reasoning with them is like chasing ones tail, just when you think you have it cornered it moves. Unless and until they experiance an emotional event that "shakes their faith" they will employ all kinds of mental methods geared to avoid confronting their ill placed faith. The three legs of fear, emotive conditioning and training reinforcing one and two, have to be dislodged before the cognative dissonance can become apparent. carmel

Jehovah's Witnesses in Israel
by Honesty inhttp://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/969459.html.
accusing the witnesses of targeting society's weaker elements, including new immigrants, the poor and the handicapped, critics blast what they call the group's devious recruitment methods.
"they've mapped out all of israeli society and then target segments that don't get attention elsewhere," said cohen.

The KH in Haifa is without windows, all bricked up and there is a strong wraught iron fence around it. Still it gets rotten fruit thrown on it almost nightly. Not a pretty site. I have a pictuer of it but don't know how to upload it here. carmel

What was your first Religious Experience ?
by Casper injust wondered how others first learned about religion.
i know "born ins" were taught from the start but the rest of us had to start somewhere.
my very first memory of anything supposedly religious was at the age of six... my grandmother took me to a "tent revival".

Although I was born into Jdubdumb, I can't remember having an "ah ha" moment like the one I had in Kodiak, Alaska at age of 30. I'd been "out" since early in my teens. Had looked high andlow for a "true religion" then gave up. I had been introduced to a new concept of religion and was pretty skeptical. One day I drove up Barrometer Mountain road and got out at the top of the mountain. It was one of those reflective moments all alone in an amazing spot and looking down on the town and seeing the trailer yard where I worked and saw the forty foot cargo vans parked side by side. These were my livelihood, what paid my salary, what gave material satisfaction, if not a lot of frustration, and now they were mere toys. Tiny little boxes hardly the size of a miniture match box. The reality set in that all this was mere childs play and that there had to be something more meaningful than moving freight from point A to point B. It was then I decided to set aside my prejudices and seriously consider the possibility that my life had been shaped by my JW upbringing and it was time to set all assumptions aside and consider new paradigms.. A liberating experiance it was! carmel

I'm sorry for your loss, but I wonder how long you will hold on to the idea of "time of the end" as adumbrated by the JWs! Even a cursory investigation will reveal that its the "end of an age". I'll be around so when you get tired waiting for a non-event, give me a yell. carmel

How did you find this site?
by truthseeker init seems as though an age has passed from discovering this site seven years ago to where i am now.
just before we started studying the daniel's prophecy book, i went online to see if anyone had made a study bookmark with the dates and paragraphs on.
i "stumbled" across this site, way back in 2000. of course, like a good christian i pretty much determined that this site had gone apostate from the other jw sites, such.

Sitting in my flat in Haifa, Israel eight years ago reading H20 and getting tired of the few foulmouthed contributors decided to try this site. There were only thirty or so contributors but the conversation was much more in keeping with mutual support and understanding. Lotta water under the bridge since then..... carmel
