  could anything have been more embarrassing?

  you could be at the door of the least popular munger in school, but overwhelmed with envy because, hey, at least he was doing something normal.

  in 8th grade, at the peak of childhood self-consciousness, i knocked on the door of a super popular, rich, "in" kid from my class and he answered the door.

  Do You Believe in Sanctuary Cities?

  san francisco is just one of many sanctuary cities in this country.

  as a permanent residence to the usa having had to go through immigration meetings, medical tests, means tests and a pretty good dose of fear - it bothers me that the same city that i had to go to for my hearing, past armed guards to prove my worth, wants illegals to come out of the woodwork and take advantage of the services the city has to offer, with a promise that they won't be rounded up or harmed in any way.

  i don't seem to understand this system at all - i feel penalized somehow for doing what was right yet, i can still feel badly for those who are scared while here illegally.

  that is, do you view yourself as a member of a "fallen" race of humans, and/or separated from god/perfection/divinity, and/or subject to eventual death because of something an ancestor allegedly did?.

  is this even a healthy way to view oneself?.

  personally, if there were any truth to the genesis account, then i'd claim descent from the "other" people living outside eden.

  is this the best of all possible worlds?.

  had god created a world in which he invested humans with adherence to inner, god designed morality guidance--wouldn't an obedient (and far better off human race) world not have been "better" than the one we are in?.

  free will is only the freedom to screw up.. think about this.. everything man designs is designed to function properly.

  What is your experience with a Philosophy class?

  students wandering into a philosophy class are usually hoping to gain some perspectives on, say, the meaning of it all, but then some rumpled guy in mismatched tweeds ambles up to the podium and starts lecturing on the meaning of "meaning.".

  first things first, he says.

  before we answer any questions, big or small, we need to understand what the question itself signifies.

  It was one of the first freshman classes I signed up for. Taught by a Dr. Verner, survivor of the concentration camps, he was most intriguing. The take home for me is how simple fundamental ideas build over time into complex sets of beliefs and world views. For instance, the concept that the man is the ruler of the family leads to all sorts of strange manifestations and justifies all kinds of bazzar outcomes. Another is the concept of the Apostle Paul having been knocked off his ass onto his arse then claimed a direct connection to Jesus through a vision. Fundamentally this has allowed for thousands of wannabe copy cats who claim to have a direct pipeline to God and the rest of us better pay attention. All because the prototype nineteen hundred years ago fell off his mount leaving Damascus. carmel

  here is how i was best friends with john wayne.. he has been gone for almost thirty years now, and boy do we ever miss him.

  When I was traveling in Russia about fifteen years ago I stayed in an old hotel that was built for athelets that were training for the olympics in Japan. We were issued a roll of toilet paper with one thin towel and one warn out wash cloth, no soap. After the first time of using the TP my room mate dubbed it "John Wayne Toilet Paper". Baffled I asked why he called it that. He said "It's rough, tough and doesn't take crap off of anyone." My closest encounter with brother Wayne. carmel

  Having a Baby......?

  so i'll be turning 32 soon.

  my life has been mostly pleasant.

  i don't have any 5 year plan or anything like that, but i do want to be a mom no later than 34. i am single, no great love of my life, not even someone to like out there at the moment.

  i read on aol today that the morman church is inviting former members to return to the church.

  food for thought....would former jehovah's witnesses return to the organization if the invintation would be extended from the society?

  would you go back if being disfellowshipped or disassociated was not an issue any longer?

  normally a ransom is done as a swap, the payment is made on exchange.

  2000 years ago jesus made payment by dieing.
