I've been out so long I doubt they would come after me. From what we all know about this fake religion, thank God we're out. It always made me sneer that glaringly under-educated men with no training in how to deal with people, no credentials WHATSOEVER can come to your home and like a dumbass parody of The Three Stooges stand there and talk to you as if they are the MAN. Come to think of it most of them ARE stooges!! LOL Garybuss on the first page of this topic nailed it when he said the dubs have each other for enemies. The only persecution I ever saw was right in the KH. And reading in "A Crisis of Conscience" of the horror that the WTBTS engineered in Malawi against their own followers over the same issue they winked at in Mexico gave me heartache. If they need to be sued I'm all for that....I think a time of reckoning is coming for that slag of a religion and an avalanche of lawsuits is just what they need. If JH made a "typo" over our favourite word I think it should be adopted : "disfellowSHIT" it is!

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge Not Destroyed By Demons!
by Swan inwho hasn't seen the infamous black and white film footage from 1940 of the tacoma narrows bridge waving and twisting before finally collapsing into the water?
last night on the history channel they were examining an airplane crash from the 1950's and telling about how the engineers determined that there was an aerodynamic anomaly for the crash called "flutter" and that these principles of flutter were also in affect when the tacoma narrows bridge collapsed.. i thought back to when i was a child and saw this famous footage on "you asked for it" and my grandmother had us switch the channel because it was demons that were making the bridge twist like that.
i believed it for a while and was scared to death whenever that footage was replayed on tv.

Ritchie...ya gotta stop already...I'm a grandmother for Pete's sake...the old ticker just can't take all this rolling on the floor laughing. Seriously this thread is great.... I remember hearing some weird stuff too, mostly I just thought the witness people I knew were inbred or something. My mom actually didn't believe in demons almost the whole time she was a witness.....then she bought a knickknack shelf from the second hand store. You know what's coming. She was an old country Russian, salt of the good earth type but when I went to see her one day she told me "sumtink veerd iss going on, I haff da demons!" She told me that ever since she bought the shelf she couldn't sit in her favourite chair because one branch of the umbrella tree plant next to her chair would start "tvirlink". I began to wonder if some sort of senile thing was going on given her age. Other family members started to arrive and we got onto other matters when all of a sudden my daughter starts to shriek..look at that bloody plant! ...and sure enough we all saw it, one whole branch of this thing was doing the windmill thing right before our very eyes. We bundled that shelf into the car and we ALL took it back and the weird stuff never happened again.

our attendance was sporadic due to mom's opposition.
they knew our mom was lutheran and that she kept us from attending many meetings.

Krista..welcome and a big hug. Your story is a lot like mine. Once upon a time I was a totally dedicated, self sacrificing, morally upright little "witless" girl. But the only thing wrong with me was that I was the best looking woman in the hall...my dub husband even COMPLAINED about it !! I wore modest clothing, treated all the brothers with utmost respect and never encouraged anyone's attentions. I was hated nevertheless. One stupid sister even told me I had to wear a girdle because her husband was distracted when I walked up to the platform to take part in the Ministry school!!! LOL The worst part of this was that I was so sensitive I actually was embarassed and ashamed. Like I was responsible for this guy's dirty old man behaviour. Many years later I too came to find out that the private lives of those self-righteous morons would make soap opera plots look like Sunday school stories. So I know very well whereof you speak. Hope you stay with us...you'll learn a lot and I can tell you have a lot to contribute in return!

Lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for six years, came home to Canada in late 1998. I went over there with an open mind and a generous feeling of respect toward their culture and religion. I came home with first hand knowlege of why there will never be peace in the Middle East. There is crime in all countries on this planet, but in a fundamentalist muslim country you are a walking representative of a culture Islam feels impelled to irradicate...even Islamic moderates are taught this....it's God's will. I too found vast differences in the way Islamic people treat you, depending on the time of day and their mood at the time. But the hospitality thing is an ingrained principle of their culture. I had friends over there from Egypt, Syria and Morocco and worked with Saudis, Sudanese and other Muslim nationals. I found there is a high value placed on being polite and hospitable that gives the newbie the impression they are accepted and protected. But I also became aware that if a high-up Imam of the religion told them that it was Allah's will that you be killed they would turn on you in an instant, with few exceptions. There is almost no steeet crime in Saudi Arabia, but there was a gathering sense of menace toward Westerners in the souks and streets...some men spitting at you and flinging curses at you for being an infidel prostitute. If I was going to an Islamic country for a vacation I'd make damn sure I checked out the travellers advisory in the local newspaper or on-line. I'd also make damn sure I dressed modestly, no bare legs, no skimpy tank tops or bare legs. This, in most Islamic countries (NO matter what the travel agent tells you), is the attire of a prostitute and will gather nasty minded men to you like hyenas to roadkill. Having said all that I will tell you that Dubai is THE duty-free shopping capitol of the world and they have an annual shopping fest in April that's an absolute blast. This is a more enlightened Arab country but I would be cautious there too.

I just e-mailed the PBS site to ask them to interview some of the many ex-jw's out there to get a balanced view of the org. Now that I see the info about one of the producers being either an interested party or the son of a witness, then I don't see how we can get them to agree to be unbiased. But at least we can voice our concerns. At least they'll know there is a whole comminity out here who will not just roll over and let this BS pass without comment.

Yes, Stephanus the red dye of those beetles is made from their "shells". This just shows you how demented the dubs can get. When I was in the org. there was some cacamamie anouncement made that we had to get rid of all the relic symbols we might own like coats of arms on buttons and other related insignia because it was all linked to demonism or some such malarky. So here we were going through our button boxes and sewing kits to see if we had unknowingly brought some contaminated thingamajig into our Christian homes. I can't believe how simple it was to get the rank and file doing stuff like this. It was one of my first clues that something really off the wall was going on at the top. People were getting rid of valuable family crests even if they were handed down in the family from way back. Something really scary about the fact that any one who challenged these bizzare announcements was regarded as questioning God or not being in submission to the faithful and descreet slave.... We were warned about Hershey candy bars too..full of blood. I think some whack-job in Bethel was paid to sit around and think up this shite just so the Borgites could have a laugh tracking the letters they would get from the dupes who bought into the latest scam.

i kind of think it backs up some jw beliefs that the church is built on ideas formulated by rome and not christ but that also it undermines the very basis of all christianity as well - i just imagined it being the type of book the elders would tell you not to read.
i remember when i used to go, there where lots of things we should not read or become educated on.

I just saw the video release called The DeVinci Code uncoded.....or something like that. The history behind the order of the Knight's Templar got my attention and to me was way more interesting than all that speculation about Mary M being Jesus' wife etc. These guys were seriously dangerous people with great power and were historical figures of which too little is known. That video showed their connection to the Masonic Order too which immediately got my attention as the early history of the JW's was twisted in with that organization too. Their belief in a line of kings coming from the marriage of Jesus and Mary M. and the whole eerie sexual thing in their church windows being "goddess" or feminine depictions was too Babylonian for words. I know this topic is somewhat off what the rest of you have to say about that book, but has anyone else out there wondered if the foundation of the witness religion,( given what we know of the founding fathers beliefs also has it's roots in ancient occultism? I was a dub for 16 years and have been out decades, but I came away with disturbing questions about things I could sense but never find the answers to. The whole organization reeks of cultism as all of us have come to realise, more or less. But I have for a long time seen evidence of something worse going on. Friends and a family member seem to have come under some toxic spell that goes beyond simple cult explanations. Has anyone else had similar suspicions? I knew some good people in the org., but I also knew people who made me VERY uneasy...as if Something or Someone else was going on...eerie stuff. It's just TOO creepy that the JW religion had its start with men who believed in Great Pyramids and the Masons who claim ancient credentials going back to the Jewish Temple builders and God knows what other temples and cultures. I'm a firm believer in looking under the surface of things. My experience with the Borg taught me that, but I can't help but wonder if there is FAR more about that sick organization than even the most curious among us ever dreamed!

Johnny cip..I about choked on my drink reading your wonderful account with all that down 'n dirty cynical "cracker" humour........I had to stop reading and catch my breath! There was a time when those of us who left that crap because we finally saw what it was, just had to bottle up the rage and get on with the business of living in the real world as best we could. It was damn hard having no one to talk to about the insights and the outrage. I took it really hard because that religion was my Family, I was a true believer. Now I feel the same way about it as you do....it's an evil stinking pack of lies, a life altering scam that robs bright kids of their futures and teaches them that scrubbing toilets when some of them could be doing brain surgery is what God wants them to do. I prostituted my intellect to further the Borg's bullshit, wasted the best years of my life circling the drain. When I look back on those years I know I was like an insect in a jar looking at life through the walls of a manmade prison of utterly mind wrecking boredom, trapped in a sterile and airless life that dragged on and on and on..always going to end soon. In fact nothing was going to happen except this: you were going to grow old and die waiting for the End. I am so thankful I got out in time to have a life, raise my kids to have real lives, travel, see the world and have a career. Guys like you are doing what a LOT of us wish we could. Rant away....something you say will stick in someone's mind just long enough for them to think about it. Borgites never hear REAL talk, all they hear is that fruity-tooty Borg-speak mumbo-jumbo all the time. If you"re going to get through you have to shock. I once saw a very sad looking guy at an assembly many years ago picketing with a placard that read "WRONGFULLY DISFELLOWSHIPPED!!!" He looked right at me as I walked by and some little frission passed between us. I made a mental note of him and his plight. I guess he saw an intelligent response although silent as I didn't sneer at him as so many did. He got a point across to me and I've never forgotten him. Danny......I'm reading Ray's book right now and came across his statement that most JW's are decent honest people and I too just totally reject that out of hand. The whole religion is sociopathic. Sociopaths are individuals who lack the capacity to feel guilt for what they do or say especially when others are hurt or injured by it. They mimic how normal people act when they hurt someone and can fake the appearance of remorse or whatever else it takes to fool the rest of us. Thus it is that you can read the shocking account of the officials at Watchtower headquarters refusing to apologise to millions of followers for the decade long buildup to 1975 that led to thousands of well meaning dupes selling homes, insurance policies and making all kinds of ill advised financial errors that resulted in devastation and ruin. They even said later that the followers should thank Jehovah for letting them beleive these errors!!! This is the epitome of evil, the destruction of innocent people to feed a lie. I don't think I'm the only one who has seen or sensed a clear impression of sinister intent in a lot of witnesses. This strange warp is called the banality of evil......it's so commonplace and so germaine to everyday life that people just don't SEE what they are looking at. I know for a fact that the Borg sends men out to investigate people who write and complain to them of gross wrong doing in the congregation. They don't give a rat's anus about the nature of the wrongdoing be it wife beating,extortion or child molestation. All they are concerned with is silencing or getting rid of the whistle-blower. This too is the hallmark of evil organizations. Many witnesses are asleep at the wheel because they have been willingly lobotomized and allowed their brains to be sucked out. And I have seen personally the lengths some will go to silence anyone with the guts to stand up and demand answers. I am not fooled any more by so-called friends being concerned about me...all they want to hear in effect, is not that I am loyal to God, but that I beleive the WTBTS IS God. They are like the aliens in the old movie called "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", which I found at the local video store a while ago. The parallels between the jdubs and the highly organized alien culture that took over the population in that movie are too amazing, and just as eerie. The jdubs are also the only religion I know of that screws you in the ear ......AND makes you pay for the vaseline!
