That shows such a lack of faith on that interfering elder's part. Come the grand and glorius New System isn't aging going to be a thing of the past?

Just a question
by brittani ini am not a jevoha's witness...and i have some questions for you.. 1. wasn't jesus set to return in 1874 according to your history?.
2. if you believe the bible, the bible says that jesus came for the salvation of all men, not just 144000 of them.. 3. if only 144,000 people are allowed to go to heaven with god, then why did god send jesus to earth?
god's eternal life is a gift, not something you have to work for.. please reply

Nothing is preventing her from going to the official site for a tasty helping of Watchtower doublespeak and BS, afin. EvilForce even suggested she check it out. However, if she wants something more honest and objective, then "apostate" sites are a must.

LMAO @ afin!
I don't think she'll find anything about 1874 there.

LMAO, Terry. Very nice summation of the WTS come on.
I'm not sure it destroyed my view of humanity...I still liked people, just thought they were misguided. It did, however, cause me to become very disconnected and isolated because it was the only way I could deal with the knowledge that everybody was gonna buy it at the big A.

JW terminology really gets my goat
by Ellie in.
i don't know if its just me or if anyone else feels the same but it really annoys me when jehovahs witnesses use their terminology when speaking to a non jw.. for example, a jw woman is talking to a collegue who has never had a bible study and knows nothing about jws.. instead of saying "i have a friend coming for tea tonight" the woman says " one of the sisters is coming for tea tonight".. or, instead of "i was talking to a friend on the phone last night" she says "i was talking to an elder on the phone last night".. it just really winds me up, i think they do it to seem important and mysterious but it only leaves the other person confused.

Nicely done, jgnat!
My question for afin is this: Why do you post here?
I'm really curious.
CYP, at least you got some good advice before our afin's needling hijacked the thread. Good luck to you and your family.

Your wife might also be secretly relieved not to have to take the kids along. There isn't a lot that's fun about getting your kids' presentations prepared, little bookbags ready, having to wake them up, get them dressed, get yourself dressed and out the door in time to meet for service. Blah. ....of course, she's possibly more organized than I was.

Hrm...not sure where my old congo is going now. We used to have it pretty easy because it was right in New Haven (a 20 to 25 min ride), but the Colesium there was demolished several years ago. It's looking like Amherst, MA is where they go now. I never bothered to check and nobody ever bothered to let me know.
In IL they use a new facility built next door to the town I used to live in. Brother, that would have been much nicer than schlepping into Cicero and back...especially during rush hour on Thursdays and Fridays. I can remember getting a hotel room once, but because it was 4th of July weekend, we couldn't use the pool (they were having a 4th party) and there was noise in the hallways as well as explosions outside until the early hours of the morning. Didn't they know that some people don't have fun and have to be rested and alert so they can sit at a race track and attempt to listen to long, boring speaches all weekend?
I'm so glad I don't have to worry about this crap any more. Sounds like a lovely weekend of being bludgeoned over the head to obey a bunch of men and not listen to those little, screaming voices in your head telling you that this can't be right.

If your mate, had an affair, what would you do ??? really, think it out ...
by run dont walk in.
toughest question anyone can ask, if the love of your life, and mate/wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend messed around on you, whether it be once or for years, how would you handle it and what would you do, think about it slowly and carefully.. wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.. it's said that 50 % of marriages are affected by an affair, it's probaly alot higher.. did you notice any affairs in your congregation ???.
i look back now, and think, oh yeah there was.

I went through this. I forgave the first time, but when it came up again, we both knew there was no future. Of course, we weren't dubs at the time either. I made that mistake all on my own.
As The_classicist said, they can't really love you all that much.
I'm not a huge fan of marriage these days, so its highly unlikely I'll ever bother with it again, but if I somehow met someone I considered to be my soulmate, overcame all of my resistance to getting married, and he ended up cheating....That marriage would be over in a heartbeat. I refuse to waste time anymore on a lost cause.
