  Door to door again?

  do you think the jdubs will start up the door whacking again one day?.

  there has to be many inside the org that are dreading having to do that again and as for the general public seeing this, it’s hard to imagine.

  "Why, are you scared of answering the door?"- Some people don't like pedophile protectors at their door especially if they have children. I don't answer my door to other salesmen why should I to someone selling a cult door to door?

  If a jw was honest at the door they would say the following- would you like to join our organization that many consider a cult? you will be required to bring in as many people as you can and if they should ever choose to believe differently then you will be required to shun them even if it is your parents, children siblings, etc... if you don't then you will be considered spiritually weak and fellow jw's will probably shun you. We are not big on natural affections. Ignore any scriptures that clearly do not agree with us especially those about love in general and loving your neighbor, they are dead meat anyway at the big A. You will be required to dress as we see fit (subject to change), follow all doctrines (also subject to change at the whim of a few nutcases in NY) follow our bedroom rules with your spouse, feel superior to all other human beings at all times and at the same time feel like shit because you can never do enough for the org, turn in your time slip on a regular basis, attend all meetings, conventions, etc... never do any sort of research on your own, protect the organization even if means covering up for child abusers and lie on the stand if necessary, lie to those you love because we call it 'theocratic warfare', limit your free time and associations from non jw's, give up all holidays and family get togethers even though we still do Thanksgiving and other holidays but we distinctly tell everybody that we don't do holidays and lest I forget, be ready to kill your own children for lack of blood.   If anyone (non jw ) doubts the veracity of a jw and general obnoxiousness you can always count on one like this one to make your point for you. I find it quite amusing when sending a Christian to a thread like this one to show them just how a jw truly acts. Though usually they can't believe the person is really a jw.

  I ask jw's if they think they are making a case for their god or Jesus when they act like this and they go on to blame others for their behavior. Much like the abuser, "I wouldn't have to beat you if you just listened, believed and behaved like I wanted you to".

  To some degree I can understand the jw thought about bringing reproach upon jah for the behavior in the cong, this one surely doesn't make one say, "wow, this guy is truly an enlightened holy guy! I want to join him so I can be just as much of a obnoxious ass as him".

  At one time jw's used to be able to have actual discussions with people, sadly they know so little about jw doctrine, the Bible and history they don't know what to believe until their Lords in NY tell them what to believe.

  it is about people with profound brain impairments like mental retardation, alzheimer's, stroke and dementia (often in a coma) suddenly becoming normal and lucid shortly before passing away.

  this is important because the wt teaches that consciousness is a function of the physical brain.

  As for consciousness the jw's are clueless and further more if you talk about such things with one they are highly suspicious and think anything they can't understand may be 'evil' somehow. Not only are they clueless but even researching it would be out of the question.

  asp59, I don't think jw's do or know of 'agape love', at least from my research. I don't usually like to use wiki but it was fast and top listing-

  In Christianity, agape is unconditional love, "the highest form of love, charity" and "the love of God for man and of man for God". This is in contrast to philia, brotherly love, or philautia, self-love, as it embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance.Wikipedia

  It has been my experience that jw's can't quite wrap their head around 'agape' at all. There would always be a 'but.... what if the person is xyz or does this or that'? they truly have no concept of unconditional love and even go so far as to put a stop to natural affection of a parent and child, siblings and so on (shunning for disbelief even without any sort of so called 'sin').

  As jhine noted everyone is your neighbor regardless of belief, skin color, etc.... I know my jw is helpful to people but it is how he grew up (not as a jw) his whole family is that way and it is one thing that has stuck so to speak. Naturally he conveniently forgets this and thinks it is because he is now a jw. But I remember him when....

  2021 Annual Meeting: just more self-exaltation

  the annual meeting from last fall had a live audience again this time and a recording of it makes up the january monthly program.

  jesus said "everyone who exalts himself will be humbled", and the gb as usual waste no time in exalting themselves over the course of the annual meeting.

  during splaine's talk, he says i guess what he thinks is a profound part of the talk outline, and then says "i'll repeat that", and reads it again.
