Or leave them there and print out some of the anit jw literature that is out there. The Nazi stuff would be good, or how many children die, what is a cult, etc..... There is also some good pages that have titles like- Danger at your door?, Join the WT and you Can't....., the list is endless. The dub who is putting them there may see them and give up or actually read it themselves (not likely but you never know). Or leave a stack of the 'cease & desist' letter with a header in bold red print -How to get on the Jehovah Witness Do Not Call List. carla

grabbing the magazines
by Junction-Guy inwell i kinda started a new tradition last year.
sometime last year i stopped off at a gas station in london kentucky and i noticed watchtower and awake magazines laying on a brochure rack, and i promptly removed them.
well yesterday on the way up to dayton i stopped off at that station again, and sure enough there were 6 magazines there, 3 watchtowers and 3 awakes.

JW terminology really gets my goat
by Ellie in.
i don't know if its just me or if anyone else feels the same but it really annoys me when jehovahs witnesses use their terminology when speaking to a non jw.. for example, a jw woman is talking to a collegue who has never had a bible study and knows nothing about jws.. instead of saying "i have a friend coming for tea tonight" the woman says " one of the sisters is coming for tea tonight".. or, instead of "i was talking to a friend on the phone last night" she says "i was talking to an elder on the phone last night".. it just really winds me up, i think they do it to seem important and mysterious but it only leaves the other person confused.

To non jw's, they mostly don't care, it makes it sound cultish to me. Always did. Another term- one of jehovahs witnesses- I wonder if those raised in the jw's realize that to non jw's it sounds like they are just another denomination, like saying, "I'm a Baptist, or Lutheran etc.. What is amusing and I never correct people for it, is when you talk to someone about jw's they often have a comment like, " Oh, I know a guy who is a big jehovah". They don't realize what they are saying because I guess the jw's have not done such a great job making the Name known! carla

This may be petty. Just wondering, it seems that the jw's go on about how the rest of us ruin the world in endless ways. Yet, passing by the two halls in my area the lawns never have any weeds. They are obviously using pesticides. Doesn't this go against their own grain, poisoning the earth? Since husband has been going to the hell, he has gotten very lazy about recycling cans, etc... Then I have to go fish them out of the garbage! He never used to do that. I know, petty small annoyances shouldn't bother me, they only add the previous annoyances. carla

Doesn't a press release have to be done in the name of a company or org or something? How does one go about this? Send it to the editor, what's going on in religion page? I have contacted national and local tv on their sites in the "story suggestions" before, concerning the pedophile problem. Only one guy responded, a local tv station thought I was spamming. Wrote him back that I was just a concerned citizen. carla

Went To A Church Today
by rocketman ini've been waking up so early on sunday mornings that i finally decided to attend a church today.
it's lutheran, and a work associate invited me some time ago.
taking the risk of being uncovered as an apostate (or at least being under suspicion as one) if i'd have been seen entering or leaving the place, off i went anyway for the 8 am service.

Rocketman,
Do you know what synod it was? I grew up Miss. synod. If you should decide at some point to join any church on a regular basis (whether it is Lutheran or non-denominational or whatever) would you ever consider letting the pastor know about your jw backround? I ask because in these past two years and talking to countless pastors, I have found that most churches on a whole are unprepared for helping someone with a jw problem. Even the pastors know the basics of jw doctrine but they don't understand the real situation, in my opinion. I wonder if pastors get education in cults? Ex jw's could be so helpful to a pastor. I was in contact with a pastor and brought him the C of C book, as he had a mom & son secretly going to his church. The mom was very nervous. I just don't think people understand the culture and control.
From a non jw viewpoint you have no idea how crazy some of the jw doctrine sounds. Things that seem so important to jw's are almost a non issue with most Christians. Maybe an interesting side topic, but not a salvation issue at all.
Just so it doesn't suprise you, I remember when I was a girl, once a year all the boy scouts and girls scouts were to wear their scout uniform and hopefully they would bring a friend. You probably are not thinking this far in advance but, Christmas and Easter! Wait till you hear the choir then! and the little kids! Seeing the little kids sing Jesus Loves Me is priceless. And Silent Night at a candlelight service is truly an experience.
all the best, carla

I thought I read somewhere that there is another "class" (right word?) called the "chosen ones" for the gb when the annoying die off. At the other board only one person knew about this, but then we found a wt with the info. Sorry, I didn't save it. And don't remember all the details. Blondie? carla

"looking to get laid"?!! What? did I miss something? I thought you actually liked this girl? What does 'blocked' mean? don't worry that you walked away, some young girls think that it is mysterious rather than insecurity. If you are lucky she will see through all that and say Hi again. How is it she managed to be there to say hi? Did you know girls can manage to be in the right spot at the right time? Highschool has been awhile but I have one graduating next weekend, things haven't changed that much. I remember girls planning out just where said crush would be after the bell, racing like crazy to make it to the other side of the school (or wherever) just to manage a casual hello! You really should try to get to know her. Sometimes the fantasy of a person can never live up to the reality. When you go to your 20th reunion you will know what I am talking about! Best of luck, (note-not lucky) carla
