  That is interesting considering the fact that in WI we have a Wiccan chaplain (right word?) in our prison system. It was big news a few years ago, that this chaplain was going to be the only one in the prison. Kept the talk radio shows busy for quite some time. Can't tell you if she is still there though. The media doesn't usually tell you how a story eventually plays out. carla

  on the other board i go to there is a thread about congressman lynch.

  he is going after religions that hide pedophiles, specifically the jw's.

  i thought maybe he should get some letters of support.

  Gave Blood today at work!

  my jw step-daughter has taken to tanning salons and sunning herself a lot, contrary to her jw dad warning her (even used one of current awake article), and me worldly wife telling her she should be careful, a relative of mine died from malignant melanoma, it is rough to watch someone you love go through this.

  her comeback was "oh well, the new system will be here soon!

  Wouldn't that be considered rather vain for a jw to do? Besides, shouldn't she be spending her time out in service? And how about the money? Surely, the hell could use it more than the tanning salon! carla

  my wife is a newly dunked dub, who goes out in service on thursdays.

  I liked Johny cip's reply, that's just how I feel. If husband EVER tries to take child to the hell, it would truly be over my dead body. call 911 time!!! Never, ever in a million years. My family even worries if he alone with one of the kids in the family for any period of time. All the parents have warned their children not to listen to anything he has to say regarding religion. Poor uncle so& so is caught up in a cult. So sad. He was always the go-to-guy for many in the family for various problems. Now he is just too whacked out. carla

  I just sent an email off to Congressman Lynch. I hope all of you do as well. Imagine if his office was inundated with letters about this issue. Do you suppose the media woud catch wind of this, finally? carla

  Do JWs ever use their donations/WT profits to help the less-fortunate?

  i was a jw for a number of years as a kid, but i don't remember them doing anything to help the community.

  many churches in my area have soup kitchens, clothing/toy drives, and other services to help people in need.

  do jehovah's witnesses ever use proceeds in this way, or are they all used to make more watchtowers, books, and kingdom halls?

  I wasn't saying the WT contributes to United Way, the other way around. I have read a number of threads through the years that the United Way GIVES money to the WT. The United Way donates to charitable orgs. like churches for use in their soup kitchens, etc... As we all know there are certainly no soup kitchens in the wt! So, I wrote the United Way asking them, but no response. Maybe more nosey people need to ask as well. A reporter could get to the bottom of this? carla
