I read a story once how an airport was having problems with geese, they tried loud guns, etc... What finally worked was they cranked Tina Turner! Sounds a bit like an urban myth, but I know if you have racoons in your attic, loud music will eventually get them to leave. However, family members may be tempted to leave as well. hmmmm, sounds like an idea???? just kidding, carla

Has anyone ever been to a Christadelphian meeting?
by twinkletoes insince i have been out of the jws, i have found the freedom to look into other beliefs.
i remember when i was in the org.
how they used to say that the christadelphians are so similar in beliefs to the jws that they must be controlled by satan, especially as they do not beleive in satan as a person/individual.

I would advise caution with the Christadelphians, as they are listed with all the other cults, including the jw's, of course. just my two cents, carla

What are the 90 questions for Baptism?
by KAYTEE ini came into the org.
30 years ago- long before the 90 pre-baptism questions.
i wondered how the questions now come up to scrutiny with the way various countries are dealing with religions.

This is 'current' ? Do they need to memorize the answers or can they ad lib? Must they do this verbally or in writing? Are they allowed to use various wt books to answer? And finally, does only an elder make the determination as to if someone is 'qualified'? thanks carla

IM from a dub who is disgusted at my presence on this board
by stillajwexelder ini have read your posts and am suprised, shocked and disgusted at the fact you still are an active witness who goes to the meetings 70% of the time and at the same time go to apostefests and curse and talk bad about the truth.
dont you know that the bible said people like you would quietly slip in the congregation and subvert the faith of some?
are you not afraid of god and jesus?

To make sure you guys celebrate, start now! I usually try to buy gifts throughout the year. Then it isn't such a big expense at Christmas. Traditions! Think of some now. We had lovely traditions, now they are pretty much out the window. I still do them, but, there is a big damper on everything. This year will be hard because one child will not be here this year, just graduated high school. Just thinking about it makes me sad. This year I think I will go on the roof and really decorate the house top to bottom! Let's just hope for no ice dams! carla

Why are they witnesses
by joelbear in.
1. their family dynamics require it.. 2. they are old and its too late to jump ship now.. 3. it allows them to think they are special.. 4. they are sheltered by a fake brotherhood community around them.. add more?

On the Charitynavigator site you can request a 'charity' to be checked out. I wonder what would happen if they were inundated with requests about jw's? carla

Millions living now will never die, due to SCIENCE!!!
by Bas insince the rise of biotech, the possibility of eternal life and an easy cure for cancer have been widely discussed and speculated about.. .
now, however, it looks like the cancercells themselves are teaching scientists how to stop the agingprocess and bringing us closer to eternal life.
millions living now will never die!!!.

Why would anyone want to live forever? not being jw, and the Mr. just really became, he truly cannot understand that I don't fear death at all. I could go in tonight, if I didn't have kids to worry about, wouldn't bother me a bit. But then, I believe in heaven. He just gets so upset by this. Then he accuses me of being a lier. Really though, no fear what so ever! I don't want science to keep my old body alive! I worked in a nursing home once. No thanks. Let me go. Unless I win the lottery or something, then you can stick in some cheap place and go have a good time on my bank account. That would be ok. carla
