I can relate to everything twinflame (who looks a little like betty boop!) except I was never jw. I had so much to learn and still things surprise me. He does try very hard to be what he now considers to be a 'good' husband. What is gone is intimacy and trust. They go together hand in hand. As I have said before to others, you try crawling in bed with someone who thinks you are worthy of death and filled with satan. No he has never said such things to me but the org says it everyday about all non believers of the wts bullshit. How do you trust somebody when nothing in your life will ever be private again? Does he go to the elders with stuff? How the heck would I know? The elder I met once is a slime bag I wouldn't trust with my dog. You no longer have that 'freedom' in marriage anymore because there might be some rule somewhere about something! You can't even play chess! (not that I do, just an example) Even the freedom to laugh at certain things, face it, some things can be morbidly funny. Might be a bit distasteful but just between the two of you some silly joke would sound a bit off color to someone else. What else that disappears almost right away is the silent language of marriage. I miss that too. Now I need to read a thread that will make me angry instead of melancholy.

Aunties and Uncles?
by glitter inhere in north england it's very common for children to call close friends of their parents aunty or uncle even if they're not really related.
this also happened at the kh with all the kids calling adults aunty or uncle.
is this standard jw practice or is it just a northern thing?

I live in the midwest, we had some Auntie's & Uncles, they were too close to be Mr. & Mrs. but we were too young to call them by their first names. However my mother was influenced by a close friend who was English. Don't know where this came from. I did have friends that also had 'Aunts & Uncles & cousins that were not any of those by blood.

Someone had a thread going (Lady Lee or Mouthy?) on 'Have you seen my mother'. Sounds like you will need a box of kleenix! Look for the thread from a couple days ago that starts something like 'Bryan, I am sitting here crying' . Someone else will direct you.

I can't read the WT and AWAKE anymore
by Jez inhundreds of supplementary publications written by unnamed authors that can hide behind the watchtower and bible tract society and say anything without referencing it.
lately, i have been thinking that this is one of the reasons that the society does not encourage higher education.
try handing in an essay without your name on it, try not referencing your essay, try having no works cited, try to have only 1 works cited, try quoting out of context, try spewing statistics or numbers or trends in your essay with no reference or date, add ellipsis that only alert your instructor to the potential of hidden information, or try presenting as support for your thesis a third party quote.

Yaldah's comments don't sound very Christian like do they? just wanting 'us' to go away? Shouldn't Yalhdah be ready to defend the 'fine' spritual garbage spewed out by the WT? Instead Yaldah just wants us to go away! You are not in you little elitist club here.

Blatantly deceitful use of secular sources
by AuldSoul ini am looking good repository of instances where the watchtower or awake!
have quoted secular sources in such a way to make it appear the source supports their argument when it is blatantly obvious that the secular source disagreed with them.
if it doesn't exist, i am about to make one.

Sorry my 'favorites' is so full and unorganized I can't find it at the moment. Try googling or typing in 'misquotes of the (or in) the WT' one of the sites has quite a few. Will you post your results? that would be nice. If you manage to finish it! I think it will be more extensive a study than we think!

too stupid for words
by peacefulpete inok this is one for the books, my wife's great grandmother who is a miraculous 94 year old cervical and ovarian cancer survivor and a 87 year old man from the hall were just counselled on the need for a chaperon!
it seems someone was disturbed that the two were alone in her appartment!
she is practically housebound and his visits to shoot the breeze and talk about the old times were the highlight of her week.

I agree with most of what you say CYP, except for the trust issue. In my case they outright taught him to lie to me and that it was ok because he was doing it for jehovah, that made it ok. They will never fully trust you (the ubm) in certain matters because every week at the hell they are told we are full of satan, or satan is using their spouse to undermine their faith. I believe he would believe a jw over me any day. I once told him that if I ever had a terminal illness I wouldn't even tell him, oddly this did not appear to phase him all that much. If my spouse (of old) told me something like that I would be crushed. The reason I wouldn't tell him because I have been told by other exjw's that the hell would probably just pray for my death. Like I would need that?! Today, as of this moment, I'm still not sure I would tell him. I don't trust him. He has left me 'alone' to deal with far to many issues in our life that he should have been there for, that he promised he would be. Simply because you are physically in a house doesn't mean that your are really there for your loved ones. The loss of his memory really pisses me off. Whether he is not allowed to remember, or can't, or won't because anything prejw was evil I don't know. But then what has my entire married life been? Apparently not worth remembering.
