  Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not

  hello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.

  a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.

  so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

  If you shouldn't even ask a question then maybe it is a cult? (restricting information)

  Yes, they look like Mormons but just tells you that after all these years of jw's knocking on doors people still don't know what the heck jw's are about!

  I thought it was funny.

  Maybe they could have included a 'cease and desist' letter or link to one to really send. The NY address needs updating-

  my wife and i are not religious nor do we want to be.

  we are very set in our spiritual beliefs.

  we have worked with a jw who's family have been like a part of our family for 6 years.

  Please protect these innocent children from this insidious cult, it's your job.

  Look at all the heartache onl the ex jw boards and you will learn why. You need to protect the children's physical/sexual, spiritual and emotional well being. All of which could very well be compromised by being left alone with a jw.

  If you want to keep these people in your life then never, ever leave them alone with the little ones. If you go into one room for something make sure someone else is there to monitor them. jw's have a thing called theocratic warfare, basically they are allowed and encouraged to lie to you (a non jw) because you are not really worthy of truth to begin with. They will try to indoctrinate the kids any time they can, bits and pieces here and there if need be.

  You said, "My 5 year old is really smart and she would tell me if something was strange"- how would a 5 yr old know what is 'strange'? what is the world experience at 5? is shunning strange? is someone touching my bottom strange while they smile and tell me god likes it? is it strange to..... you get the idea. Adults don't even know when they are being indoctrinated how would a 5 yr old?

  Do not believe them if they tell you they would not try to influence your minor children and they respect that blah, blah, blah. It is lies. I know from personal experience how far a jw will go to get a minor child in their grasp, in my case it was mentally & spiritually. We couldn't leave the jw alone with one particular child due to his incessant preaching at said child.

  i remember going door to door in the late 60's with my mother as a 5 or 6 year old.

  one time she caught me looking at the wind chimes on a porch.

  she told me they had pagan origins, were evil, and were somehow connected to demons.

  Why does the Borg never use the terms Grace or Ezer

  let me start with: this is not a discussion of the validity of the bible or whether it is inspired of god.. my question is why do you think they don't use grace in their teachings when this is such paramount teaching in the rest of the christian world.

  and why do they not reference the hebrew word for helper in genesis 'ezer'.

  this word as applied to a woman seems more dignified as it carries the connotation of strength where the man is weak.

  Imagine if jw's found out that their sins were already atoned for by Christ' work on the cross and there was no need to ride the coattails of the gb or the anointed? that would be the end of the jw's as we know it. (from a mainstream Christianity point of view)

  Waton, yes, Amish girls can go wild too. Just like the boys. Then they make a decision to stay in Amish life or join the outside world. Not all the teens do rumspringa, some never do the wild thing but dedicate themselves to all things Amish, get married, kids, etc....

  I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

  I agree, by all means protect any children from this insidious cult. Your family should be a package deal and children should be free from the negative and mean comments made by jw's about their parents. Not to mention the spiritual abuse and possible physical/sexual abuses within the jw community.
