I saw (Ottawa?) that the police chief is going to arrest anyone giving food or gas to the truckers? Is this so? how can he make a law just like that? how could it be illegal to give food to someone in need?

@Biahi, yes! when I (ubm, never a jw) found out what they taught in a regular meeting regarding sex in general with all age groups & genders I was appalled to say the least. When I talked with others about it (all non jw) we all agreed it was an abuse of sorts or at least like exposing minors to illicit materials. I was outraged, needless to say I never allowed my kids to step foot in a kh for exactly that reason along with a million others.
jw's seem to think the competition part of sports is bad yet they seem to have their own sport or competition going on in my mind. Don't the men always want to get ahead in the org? isn't the goal to become an elder and they compete to reach that coveted goal? don't the women brag about pioneering and how many hours they get in and so forth?
I can't think of a more dismal religion to be in as a child. Some middle eastern ones would be worse I suppose but in the western modern world jw's are right up there.
should we refer watchtower as to a online religion now?

Only if it has as negative connotation as 'televangelist' does in the minds of jw's, in my opinion. Oddly my jw still says the word 'televangelist' with such disdain it is palpable even though that is basically what the jw's have become!

Just finally watched this (The Bearing Witness episode), all of it makes one angry and sad but the end really got me with the nana retelling how she would be forgotten by her grandchild so he could shun her.

If you put the same rational to a jw but insert spouse for the org how would they answer?
Example, your spouse says something like "you gave me no choice! if I would have done x, y or z you would have left me". It is my opinion that a jw will not take kindly to being put in that box when the tables are turned on them specifically inside the marriage. The perpetrator of x, y or z does not feel free to make one decision or another knowing how the other will react (the spouse will leave or be angry). Does that make any sense to you guys? (coming from a ubm's point of view) The spouse makes the choice to make the other an outcast or outright rejects them for one thing or another yet a jw will say that jah hates divorce and they should forgive them or give them second chance. At least in the case within a marriage both parties know what the 'sin' or distasteful action was, within jw society pretty much everybody will shun at the whim of the elders without even knowing what the supposed sin is.
Are you free if someone else makes a decision for you? If by going against the grain will garner the very same action towards yourself are you truly free? History is filled with hard decisions and those brave enough to go against the grain, thankfully. If more were brave enough to stand up against shunning maybe one day they would allow freedom of thought and action as God does. God allows free will, at least in my world.
I agree with Doc, isn't that in part why Russia doesn't like jw's? the breakup of families?
