I'd think coming home from an Assembly™ to find your home reduced to rubble or submerged being affected by the disaster. But then, I'm a human being not a souless publishing corp.

Report of "Brothers and Sisters" affected by Katrina
by Grace inwe have have all been so affected by the news from the southern us, and even up here in the middle of the canadian prairie i wish i could open my home to so many who need a home right now; however, all i can do (and it's better than nothing) is to whip out my credit card and make a donation to the red cross.. i picked up my jw husband from the kh today (i am disassociated), and he said, "... they had a report that most of the brothers and sisters in new orleans happened to be at an assembly in houston when the tragedy struck ~ so, not to worry, because not too many were affected.
" of course, it didn't cross his mind to help non-jw folks, and, quite obviously, the elders from the platform would never suggest this because it has been made clear how the rank and file should view charity and humanitarian efforts.. didn't jesus say something about love being the distinguishable mark of a christian?
uhmmmm.... and they're shunning us [those who don't agree with them]?.

I've taken up pipe smoking, but only on occasion. I like the ritual of it all.
I've always pretty much read what I wanted to, so maybe that's why I'm here instead of on the inside.
Openly bought porn and toys. I usually travelled to a neighboring city and snuck it home.
Gotten falling-down drunk.
Celebrating holidays and my birthday.
Had sex with someone who wasn't my wife as well as someone who wasn't a woman. Oh my, I do get around...
Gone to a movie I wanted to see regardless of the rating.
Appreciated life and the beauty all around me.
Dated a polyamorous woman, she has essentially a common-law husband.
Gotten stuff pierced.
Gotten a tattoo.
Living without fear that someone, i.e. the elders™ would find out. Now I no longer care. -

I would suggest, if you are planning to get you nipple pierced, go ahead & do both at the same time. You'llfind yourself thinking about getting the other one done after the first and if you pierce both atthe same time, your healing time is reduced.
I know, I just went through it about two weeks ago. Hurts like mad but only for a second. -

Speaking of asking for help...
by cyd0099 inwhile you were still in, did you ever just decide to go it on your own rather than ask the brothers for help.
i was telling a friend today about the time i broke my ankle.
it was after a dub get-together and when in the next morning the shock wore off and it was apparant the bone was broken and i needed to get to the hospital to have it looked at, i chose to ride 10 miles on the same motorcycle i broke it on because it didn't occur to me to turn to my brothers for help.

Moving was always the worst...
I went to help, because I am that kind of guy, but I would arrive and more often than not, there was virtually nothing ready. I was there to be a strong back and ended up wrangling the kids to pack up their toys, getting the brothers© out of the kitchen or away from the sisters®, and organizing the trucks just because I didn't want to waste what was left of my weekend watching people stand around with their fingers up their you know whats. -

I can look back now and think maybe I didn't want the hassle of the "why are you riding a motorcycle?" lecture, but really I felt I had nobody to rely on but myself. -

Confrontation times 2, My lovely weekend ahead. Any thoughts .......
by run dont walk inwell, my life is about to change over the next week, the anxiety is running high, and the adrenaline is going full blast, i hope i make it .... just a reminder of what has happened ... last summer my wife went to ontario and stayed with her sister, at the time me and her were not doing to well, and while she was there she screwed around on me, and her sister laughed about it.
it's been 11 months, i've did the counselling, and i've tried to forgive her, but i'll tell you all something ...... "it just eats at you everyday, no matter how hard you try.".
so i arrive on saturday, and day 1 will be taking care of this guy, i just hope i don't k--l him and spend the rest of my life in jail.

I ran into the man my (then) wife had left me for. It was a library of all places and I had my toddler son in my arms.
This guy was over a head taller than me and trained in the miliatry. A knife fighter my ex had informed me. I was quiet, I never raised my voice or made any movement toward him, BUT...
I learned later that as he related his side of the story, he had never been so scared of another man in his life. When I feelddown I remember that story and it gives me more satisfaction, more power than if I had struck him.
There are always better ways to get revenge...

Questions You Could NEVER Ask Your Elders
by minimus injwd is great for giving us the opportunity to ask questions and get answers to things that you could never ask in a kingdom hall.

So, brother _____________, did you know OUR conciences allow my 20 year old wife and I to express our love orally on each other 4-5 times a week?
