Hi Serendipity,
I also seem to remember some months later the publications™ praising such behaviors on the part of the brothers. When I saw it in print, I felt like such a nazi.
If my music (or whatever) bothered me, I should have disposed of it quietly and made it a matter between me and god rather than turning it into a display of self-righteousness.

I think it was a talk at the DC about 'music that debases' in the early 80's that got us all fired up.
We had a picnic at an elder's house and brought in armfuls of records, although I think the smart kids brought old, scratched to hell records for destruction.
WE partied dub-style while sledge hammering away.
God, I was dumb... -

Shiraz and spirituality
by feelinsketchy innot too long ago, i would have told you that the proper way of spelling shiraz was to leave the "raz" off and replace it with a "t.".
sorry all you aussies out there.
alas i freely admit i was wrong as i sip a victorian 03 by greenpoint.

The both start with an "s" and when indulged in from time to time you can get a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Was your old congregation one of those that got together and publicly, noisily, happily destroyed your records?
Mine was.
It was pretty dumb because most of us replaced our albums within about a year after missing music that we liked in the first place. -

Married to it JW
by mydiscounts inmy personal experience is being married to a man who grew up in a very bad situation at home with jw being very strict.
this has damaged his mind to a point where he believes what ever they tell him, he is the kind of guy who will not got to a meeting for a year and his first day back his hand is up in a watchtower study.. he then wants to try that s^%$ on my children and then we are in a fight, i am afraid i am just married too it being that i lost my dad early in life not to death but he just left and i grew up with out him in my life i feel bad spliting up.
my youngest son tells me all the time how much he hates his father, i hate to say deep inside if i were him i would also hate my husband.

Mydiscounts; I am so sorry for your situation. I wish I had something other than my well-wishes.

It's no wonder I am out.
I would have been totally embarassed to have this dolt speak on my behalf, saying I would have been offended by hot cross buns.
It's extremism taken to the stupid end of the pool. -

Welcome. Looking forward to hearing more.
Yeah, it is that time of year again, DC reservations... Funny how somebody who might try and really and live a life of simplicity (like, by not spending $ on a luxury like a cell phone) gets screwed by their Brothers™ who can't wait to get home. It's important to get that motel next to the Tacoma Dome with the pool. -

So what's the route of your cruise? If you're leaving from Seattle I could come down and send you off with a bottle of "Bon Voyage"

Thanks for including the "wrong" view. I have always wondered what it took to create the three dimensional effect.

I had to wait a bit. I was working a job with stringent dress and grooming codes as well. Once I was free of both, I grew my hair to my shoulders and like prettymuch every man, threw away my razor for a while.
Later on, I cut my hair (because I think I look better), shaved down to a soul patch, got one ear and both nipples pierced, got my first tattoo, and clenched a pipe between my teeth.
