You could spin it as not feeling safe talking to anyone outside the family about your situation. Play up your sense of vulnerability and as a woman, this could be something your sister could possibly understand. Maybe.
Then again I could be taking out of my a [edited] s

Nolita,
Hi, and welcome.
I just want to say, as someone who works with coffee and that it is the current "in" thing to say that the beans are Fair Trade, F.T. is only the beginning. It is a good starting place, but it isn't the curative to the growers that many pundits claim it to be.
I may start a new post if anybody's interested... -

I have made a deliberate choice to shop there as little as possible, maybe twice a year-if at all.
I probably have the least amount of money of anyone I know. I have chosen a life of voluntary simplicity and yet I cannot see myself not supporting my community's economy, even if it is more expensive.
From the drain on the city infrastructure, to the tax breaks it receives, to the local businesses that die because they didn't know how to react to the behemoth box store. Wal-Mart does nothing positive for the communities they descend upon but charge you less. -

For NICE PEOPLE only!
by BlessedStar init seems as though many people come to this board and leave in a short space of time.. it's a pity.. there are people on this board who are very nice and polite even when discussing various views.
this leads to understanding and concern.
i would like to meet you people.. please post in here.. i term nice as being kind, not cursing, love for god almighty, thrives on the right things in life, not hurting other's feelings, etc.. blessed star

Howdy, my friends consider me nice, but I'm agnostic. And occasionally bitter. And well, I like a well-rounded sampling of all experience, "right" and shaded grey...
Today is a good day. -

Thinking of coming out of the apostate closet
by Brigid inmy dear fellow sojourners,.
i am in deep repose today.
as free as i feel from the organization, there is still one tiny veil yet to be lifted.

This is the only place where i talk at all about the bOrg. It really isn't a part of the new life I am shaping for myself.
But still, the decision to unmask can be a big hurdle. The internet isn't a hidden world inhabited by just a few. I still wonder if there isn't some lurker reading the board who will recognise me and go tattling to the elders-although ratting me out would create some problems for the dub...
I lurked on here for a good long time even though I was a faded Dub. There is the lingering guilt and the fear of commiting to the "apostate" mindset that kept me from immediately joining and even still longer before I commented regularly and even then I posted a partial photo of myself, only posting my current pic when i felt comfortable.
Growth is a process, so take your time or take the plunge, or stay unrevealed. Whatever is right for you. I'm sure we will support you in your decision. -

It's a problem in Whatcom County. I bought Tylenol Cold and Flu for my girlfriend last week and I had to show my ID and the pharmacist took down my personal info. It was a precaution against meth producers but it was weird.
As an apartment manager myself, I would recommend getting a copy of the Landlord-Tenant laws for your area either on-line or from a renter's advocacy group. If you are forced to move out because of the illegal activity permitted by the owner or the owner's agent, you should get your depsits back in full.
Just document EVERYTHING. Videos, letters, conversations, phone calls. EVERYTHING. I can't stress that enough.
I wish you well. -

Go up the chain of management, preferably with letters. Make copies, get a certificate of mailing-those don't cost, and when you finally reach the level where someone can / will give you satisfaction there will be evidence of the underlings not responding to your complaints. This is also good to have on hand should you decide to contact the media.
I know what you mean about not getting names. I always think to write down the name after I've hung up. -

My need for the board fluctuates. Some days I really have to read a pick-me-up experience. other days it's a good laugh. Some days not at all but I am addicted and many of you seem like virtual family so I don't think I would ever voluntarily leave..
