What "Unwritten Rules" Did Your Congregation Have?

i knew of a hall that allowed only white shirted speakers on the platform for sunday public talks!

when a visiting speaker did not wear the official white shirt he was either told that he couldn't give the talk or he could change shirts,as the hall kept a variety of sizes, just in case of an emergency!!!

i don't make this up.

Not only couldn't two single people dance together..

When I finally decided to be social after my wife left me and took our young son, it was a roller skating party. I was uncomfortable but it was good for me to be among people (even if they were dubs).

When the roller barn dimmed the lights for a couples skate a friend of mine (elder's daughter, more like a sister to me than anything)offered her hand and pretty much pulled me on to the floor to skate. We hadn't even rolled one full lap before 1.) some elder's wives glared at us 2.) my MS "friend" made some snarky remark and 3.) an elder pointed at our loosely held hands and shook his head with great disapproval.

Her act of kindness was undone by those @sshats who put rules and appearances before people. They took away that little spark of feeling like a normal guy again and it was years before I found it.

there is clearly a caste system in the organization.

there is a pecking order.

certain classes of people did not associate with those not of the same ilk.

i love to login to myspace and see if i can find some ex-jws, or active jws from (my) cong., or ones that i knew from other congs.. i came across a profile of someone i knew, who was in the same congregation.

her name isn't particularly common, and there is a resemblance, so i think it's most likely the girl who i went to kh with.. she says she's "atheist", and has a tattoos on her face, piercings, and her profile is decorated with naked women.

I know I never stood out in the congos at least outwardly. There were always the flashy bros, the study bros the gymbros, the money bros, I was practically invisble in my suit and tie.

Inside I was a indie rocker, a goth, and a touch of the glam rocker too. I took my time to decide on the first tat, in fact I didn't know it was going to be on my body at first. That's the one caution I would give to anybody getting their first ink. Don't do it to rebel, do it because it has meaning. My boss has a joker playing card on his shoulder that he just hates...

For me, piercing and ink are among the ways I am bringing who I have felt like on the inside (even when as a dub) into alignment with what I look like on the outside.

i was baptized at the "sacred secret" district convention in 1976. funny thing really i don't remember the 1975 issue as i was studing at that time and some how the subject never came up.

i'm a fan of several: tomb raider and danger girl (both about smart, capable women) ghost (similar to above, and a very good mystery about her background) hellboy metal men (recently returned for an 8 issue run, and the basis for a new movie in the works)

I am slowly building my collection of trade paperbacks of Usagi. It's such a great story. About two years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Stan Sakai at a comic-con. Nice guy, autographed and sketched UY in a couple of my books.

it was suggested i retitle and repost it as my title did not really convey what the topic was about, so here it is again.. i was looking at who incited david to take the census, satan or jahooba (2 sam 24:1 vs 1 chron 21:1).
