  i think there was a thread on this at some point but search is not working, wouldn't know the keywords anyway.. but like i just thought of escape from brooklyn bethel - instead of escape from new york.. it would be cool if someone can write little blurbs for these too.

  If you could create a new canon - what books/ writings would you include?

  ok so the bible is a work of the early roman church - if you could add any books to a new canon of 'scripture' what would you add - would you take anything out?

  i found on the watchtower sight under the topic "how can you find the true religion?".

  that it mentions, "the most outstanding mark of true christians is that they have real love among themselves.".

  Who Was Shocked By the Watchtower UN NGO Scandal?

  i'd like to get comments from people about whether and how much they were shocked, surprised, or otherwise bothered by the watchtower society's becoming an associated non-governmental organization (ngo).. note that i'd like to see these comments because they might lead to some interesting publicity, so please comment accordingly.. alanf

  I was gobsmacked - (especially when compared to the YMCA thing) - there is NO valid reason why the WTBTS should ever have considered joining. I can't imagine what pre-amble took place prior to them approaching the UN.

  I have been away from the Cult Society for many years, my last attendance being the book study in 1995 (Revelation - and it was!) After reading the postings on here, I believe that if I returned to JW it would be a completely different religion to the one I left 10 years ago, and I would have to ''re-learn'' everything.

  What are some weird things that you do?

  everyone has their own idiosyncrises, mine is- .

  when i get a new book, i'll open it up to the middle of the book and stick my nose in the binding for about ten seconds, and smell how the glue, ink, and fresh paper smell.

  ahhhh i love that smell.

  I too am a ''book-sniffer'' Love11, and I have a friend who also is. Maybe we should form a support group? Not just new books though - and not always in private - lol.

  Something else that I love to do, is look in other people's fridges (What's the oddest thing you've ever seen / kept in a fridge?)

  I talk to myself. I create possible discussions that could possibly happen, and I come up with my rebuttals. You like if someone were to say this to what would I say back.

  Isn't this great? Glad it's not JUST me then. I do this in the car and while out walking. Don't forget to do this while out shopping too - you'll find that you get to shelves a lot easier, and served a lot quicker!

  KM article -tip minimum 15%

  we got a command at the service meeting tonight - the km article on the summer district conventions said if we are dining out we really should tip 15-20% minmum -this was repeated twice = good to know the witnesses are getting less tight

  Why didn't jesus write the new testement

  questions, questions, and more questions.. did jesus (if he existed) have in mind starting a world religion such as has been created around him in his name?

  if so, why did he not write the foundations for it, laying out it's laws and structure?

  why did he only rebel and lead a rebellion against the old testement priesthood?

  .......after reading this thread it has occured to me why DIDN'T Jesus / God record events in a way that would only be accessible at appropriate times, eg. ''The Last Days''. Let me clarify. As a dub, I was always told that things were revealed at the due time, Revelation being the example - as past generations didn't need to understand it as the events contained there would not occur during their lifetimes.

  As there is ''Nothing New Under The Sun'', it would make better sense for US/Mankind to access information only when we have the MEANS to do so - that way we would not need to speculate, or be misled by false prophets..(eg. a CD-ROM during the 18th Century would be meaningless to EVERYONE in the Whole World).

  .........I disappeared, but I didn't know it! I have been logged on to this site for weeks, but every time I tried to post, I was asked to log on (even though I already was) . OK, so I gave THAT a whirl, and I wasn't recognised (even though page still showed me logged in). I assumed it was a glitch which would be corrected. However, this morning, I access this site to find I'm not logged in here anymore (and am unable to) - so all I've been able to do the past few weeks is READ and not respond how frustrating is that?

  SO, I here I am, a 'born again' JWDer, but the WORST thing is, NOBODY MISSED ME
