All I hear is the Society are BIG in charity donations, but according to Bible principle do not make known their charitable acts!

WTS and charity?
by gringojj inmy sister in law was going to have her electricity shut off and she brought her notice to catholic charities and they paid it for her.
makes me wonder would the wts do the same?
are they known to do anything charitable besides spreading the good news?

I would say that about 80% of JWs have no clue how to have a give and take conversation
So true Blondie. Children brought up in the Org are prevented from developing normal social skills. (At the moment, I'm aware of quite a few children born into it, who are educated at home (often by parents who have little education themselves) and have no interaction with ''Wordly'' people.)
I have noticed though, during conversations with JW, there are certain 'trigger' words that they respond to. You know what I mean....

Everlasting Life--The Carrot Put Before the Public
by blondie ini was looking over the article just before next sunday's study article.. taking in knowledge now and forever.
the attraction is living forever.. a few statements show the trend of the article.. a compelling reason to be selective about knowledge is that our present life span is so shrt.. you realize that you will simply not live long enough to do so.. could a field of knowledge be available that will prolong life significantly, even forever?.
please read the next article, which will offer you the prospect of taking in knowledge forever.. still, he does not promise his readers that they could literally live forever.. however, there is one kind of knowledge that does promise everlasting life.. conversely, if you did live forever, you could take in useful knowledge forever.. john 17:3. let us first define the term "everlasting life.".

Looking forward as always Blondie......
What I find (which, as a JW, I never had to think about) is how Scriptures are (I think) ever so subtly popped into WT text, and interpreted for us:-
...... All who want to understand the Bible should appreciate that the "greatly diversified wisdom of God" can become known only through Jehovah?s channel of communication, the faithful and discreet slave.?John 6:68.
...But John 6 v 68 says:- Simon Peter answered him: ''Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have the sayings of everlasting life;''
No mention of Jaraczic Park!

A decent and viable substitute for the WTS
by greendawn inlet's suppose that a large number of ex jws decided to get together and set up a new religious entity to provide any spiritual benefits, that were provided by the wts but as we all know in an exploitative and destructive way.
in a devious way much bitterness was added to whatever benefit they gave.
what would your suggestions be in the way of forming such an entity?

I'm with Ezekiel3 and Fatfreek - from humble beginnings, just see what results. From what I understand, the WTBTS is buying more property than they need (I'm sure someone has the amount at hand). And yet, I am aware of JW criticising Christendom for its great wealth.
Christendom?s clergymen have considered themselves to be God?s special representatives toward the people and, hence, entitled to the treatment of a privileged class, exempt from duties and responsibilities to which the rest of the population may be subject. Contrary to Jesus? admonition not to take to themselves such titles as "Rabbi," "Leader" and "Father," they regard it as their right to be addressed as "Father," "Reverend" and the like. (Matt. 23:8-10) The religious systems of Christendom have constructed magnificent buildings throughout the earth. They have also amassed great wealth in other forms. In many lands, these vast holdings are, by reason of their claimed sacred status, exempt from the assessments and taxes imposed upon businesses in general.(WT 1975)
The words 'POT' and 'KETTLE' spring to mind.
Jesus commanded his followers: "Stop storing up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break in and steal." (Matthew 6:19)

How far back are j.w.'s allowed to research the w.t. doctrine?
by hubert in's research russel's and rutherford's teachings once they are baptized?
if not, where in their material does it instruct them not to?
how far back are they "allowed" to research?

If witnesses studied and "lived by" old material.....they would now be disfellowshipped for Apostacy.
So that would mean Russell, Rutherford etc all shunned as soon as they're resurrected then! ..Just as well they're going/gone to Heaven ....

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 5-15-05 WT Study (Children Pt 2)

Ok - help me out here. I wasn't aware of paedophiles being protected by the '2 witness rule' prior to joining this site, where I have read many topics/personal accounts etc.(In fact, I never considered anything of this nature would happen in a 'God's Organisation').
Question - if the child of a JW was sexually abused by a non-JW paedophile, would the same 2 witness rule apply? OR would the perpetrator be reported? I suspect the latter. Having said that, it would then appear that 'Wordly' people value their children MORE than those in God's Organisation do - I can't imagine a rational parent distinguishing between molesters when their child is at stake.
Also, if all this is so, a Congregation is a safe haven for paedophiles - and with this information available, surely will attract more.

There is no graceful way to back out ...
by ljwtiamb ini find it interesting that the chickens have come home to roost for wts.. just as they have allowed no dignified way to exit the org, without disgrace, there seems to be no way for them to gracefully apologize for past (errors???).
just think of the recent mass exodus of faithful that has come about with each major doctrine change.
so many have been ruined by devoting their lives to the gb, that even if there was a sincere effort to correct things, i believe that the vast majority of the current membership would just revolt.. it's just a matter of time before the entire house of cards comes tumbling down.. so, whaddya think?.

I agree with Sith - when I look back over the Society's history, I see a religion that has evolved (which it has had to/is having to, in order to survive) - many of its members have evolved with it, yet others have been unable to.

JW Monopoly
by gringojj ini was playing monopoly tonight and thought what about a monopoly based game about the wts?
you could buy the land, build kingdom halls, sell them for profit, then on the chance cards it would be called new light and you could get things like new kingdom halls or land or bad things like the wts decided to sell your land or they are begging for money and you have to pay them 100 bucks.
you wouldnt get 200 for passing go because the wts doesnt give back.
