There's 'one' in my former Congregation - he called on me (about 6 years ago) and I broached the subject of the Remnant. He said they all have 'special gifts' - some have the gift of prophesy, some of healing and some of interpretation. His 'gift' (he claimed) was interpretation. I questioned/suggested that he should be assisting the Org in that area - but he responded that his 'ideas' were ahead of the Org's current teachings.

In veiw of the future prospects for the remnant of the 144000 still living, wouldnt you think they would have a greater role in the running of a congregation ?
by smiddy ini just commented on another thread about the 144000 and thought it deserved a thread of it`s own seeing how important their appointment is .. those who are selected to rule with christ jesus in heaven are given immortality.
if you or i were selected to survive armaggedon we would not be given immortality , so obviously they are considered a cut above the rest of humanity.. so my question is ,why doesnt jehovah`s spirit directed organization on earth give these people the respect and dignity that jehovah god is going to bestow on them in the future , while they are yet present on earth , instead of ignoring them , and treating them as a lesser class of person than a pioneer ,ministerial servant, or elder.. and suggesting they may be influenced by prior beleifs or have mental problems doesnt say much for their bible education instruction , after all these are dedicated baptized publishers who are counted as the annointed remnant.. smiddy.

Cedars - I believe that JWs suffer more 'mental illness' than the general population (from what I've read and from knowing too many JWs on long term anti-depressants). I'm wondering if there's a correlation between an increase in JWs with 'mental issues' and an increase in the 'Remnant' numbers? Just a thought.

So, at this growth rate, how long will it be before the 'Remnant' consists of more than 144,000? I can't do the maths, lol

I assumed it was the lights ... I usually take them down every spring but this year I said, ah, to hell with it.
Then they can't be deemed 'Christmas Lights', as they would have been taken down by 12th (?) night. I once had two elders on my doorstep a few weeks after Christmas accusing me of celebrating Christmas (the irony was, I didn't celebrate - although I'd stopped going to meetings, I hadn't returned to a 'Worldly' lifestyle - these things take time). Anyhow, it turned out someone from my former Hall had made a complaint against me. It was someone I never mixed with and never saw (so totally fabricated)...
...anyway, the two elders came in, and had a good look around and questioned me. I had been given a Christmas present prior to Christmas which I had left unopened (I just couldn't be bothered to open it frankly), and I showed them and one said 'Oh, you can open it now as 12 days have passed'.

Were you surpised how little the "world" new about JW's after you left?
by donny ini have been out of the jw organization for some time now and have been fairly active in discussing my adventures in watchtower with those who are interested.
what really surprised me in the first few years after leaving was how little the "world" knew about jw's.
we were taught that we have been warning the unwashed for 100+ years and they resist the message because satan keeps them from grasping this "good news".. in the many discussions i have had with these folks since leaving, it is amazing how little or no understanding about jw's beyond the blood issue and holidays they have.

Smashing article.
This so called religion is a joke when we consider Dogpatch's list of things it doesn't do.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

Over the coming years, the Watchtower will probably phase the Bible out as 'apostate' material as it conflicts with the WT (only kidding....or am I?)

How many hours of time do JW's waste in helping people who DO NOT WANT THEIR HELP
Good point popcorn - I'd never thought of it like that really. Such a waste really.
