  Yes...but since leaving the bOrg, I haven't met anyone who has experienced demons. But then, I knew/know more JWs with mental issues than non-JWs. Any connection do you think..?

  hello - i am new here .. just joined a couple of days ago, and have enjoyed the bit of lurking that i have done.

  a breif history, i was raised as a jw, was active until i was 36, and was a regular pioneer for 7 years and a ministerial servant for 5 years, and was one when i left.

  my reasons for leaving are not important at this point, but i have spent the last year or so researching the flood and more extensively the theory of evolution.. i have finally decided to broach the topic with my mother since after all this time, the last of my jw friends and my brother and sister have all decided that they should shun me now, and i want to make a last ditch effort to convey to my mother that i didn't leave the organization so i could do lines of coke off a cheap hooker, but because i actually believe that this is not the truth.. i'd love some feedback on the email and what you think the possibility of it actually breaking through the "permafrost" created by the society.

  Because I live a fulfilling life and have great joy in teaching people about how to love, how to find happiness in life, and comfort in a world that is very cruel. What do you give to your fellow man? Hard, cold reality? The exposure to your intellectual prowess ? You are empty now. Your spiritual vacuum has been sucked dry of truth.
  
  Your father has given me clear and specific instruction to tell you that staying here in the Fall is no longer an option.

  They just can't see it, can they..? It makes me angry that they behave like victims.

  i mentioned on a recent thread by irondork that my wife recently showed me a handwritten list of grievances i had against the society from before i had ever visited a single apostate website (apart from wikipedia).

  Yep, another one that bothered me (not now, as frankly I think anyone who claims to be of this class has a mental issue), IF there are 8,000 (or whatever the current expanding figure is, lol) 'annointed' Worldwide (when I say 'Worldwide', I'm guessing Western/'wealthy' countries - God, it seems, like extraterrestials, only mostly 'visits' Americans) and they all pooled their God-given gifts, then the Society could only benefit....so why doesn't the FDS concentrate these chosen few? If God 'chose' all of the 144,000, then why can a handful rule over the others..?

  Bottom line is none of them are 'special', just dellusional. And I suspect the FDS believe that too.

  The 'New Light' is just plain wrong. Are we to believe that God decides to let his 'Organisation' not only believe crap, but preach it, then once the R&F firmly believe said crap, He then decides to tweak/change it? There isn't really much point in 'believing' anything the Org says, as it's always subject to change, lol.

  one of the single brothers from my former hall.

  we were decent friends when i was still attending meetings, but since my departure we don't have a lot in common.

  ok, am i correct in saying that the fds never stated armegedon was coming in 75'?

  however, they led everyone to believe it was coming in 75'?.

  if the latter question is true, can you provide links to talks or articles that point to this?

  I remember all the hype and anticipation at the time...now those same JWs deny they proclaimed that in 1975. If the 'Society' never promoted it (as they claim) they had a respoonsibility to 'counsel'/correct the thinking and preaching of it in the 1970s. However, I suspect it was a time of financial growth for the WT, so they turned a blind eye then blamed the R&F.

  As I've read on here - To JWs the future always remains the same, it's the past that always changes (apologies for poor quoting)

  so over the weekend i was in a cargroup for service, yes i still go out but i dont ring doorbells or knock i just go out to keep wife and other elders off my back, anyway the video came up and i said nothing about it but the other 3 people in the car ( a pioneer and 1 elder, 1 publisher) said that it was good.

  yes you heard correctly good!

  the pioneer even stated that the annimation was good and it is short enough to hold a young childs attention.

  It also goes to show how they suck the enjoyment out of everything. Good grief, JW kids have naff all to enjoy anyway...to deprive Caleb (JW kids) of the little pleasures of childhood is just evil and pointless.

  I often think something will have to 'give'. Will outsiders perceive JWs as a harmful Cult? Are the WT panicking (judging by the crap they are now churning out, they appear to be losing any 'direction'). As other posters have pointed out, d'fing is a last hold, and with young children being born into an internet based World, the WT needs to instil guilt at an early age by planting fear. It's mental abuse. They are deliberately targetting their future victims, because without them I believe this 'religion' would collapse on itself. The WT has thought ahead trying to secure its own future.

  I went on the Net, found many more people had seen through the 1914 tosh, and then began to discover the rest.

  How do the WT (and JWs) regard 1914 now..? Is it phased/phasing out..? I can't see as it serves any real purpose anymore. What is tragic is the amount of lives/livelihoods lost by putting their trust in this lie.
