we went to my husband's grandfather's funeral yesterday.
i'd already posted a few times on this subject, so not to bore anyone i'll quickly remind you of the story.
grandpa became ill and needed care.
Speechless. I read your previous posting and was disgusted at that. This is heartless. I have never heard of anyone NOT having a funeral in this (England) country. How can any one of that Congregation's Elders have a conscience?
At least your Mother's prayer WAS answered, and a real Christian did attend.
why does the dubs bible change the words from other recognised translations ?
in the normal bibles john 1:1 says "in the beginning was the word, and the word was with god, and the word was god.
" .... but the dubs version says"... and the word was a god".
A dub explained this to me - the WORD is Jesus. ''In the beginning the Word (Jesus) was, and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was a god.
Jesus (as explained to me), has had and will have many titles - Michael, JC, the Word, and will soon be known as Abaddon.
Can someone expand on this please? How does the insertion of ''A'' disavow the Trinity?
...my gran, who has been a jw since the 1950's will be reproved publicly for speaking to her grand-daughter who is disfellowshipped.
she is 77 years old and i am worried that it will be the death of her.
the"truth" has been her life for nearly fifty years and she is still a regular publisher.. if she continues to commit this gross sin she will be disfellowshipped.. her daughter and son in law are to be disfellowshipped for the terrible sin of allowing their daughter to live under their roof since she left her husband.
It's disgraceful!! That poor woman - hope you pass on all our thoughts to her Zaphod.
I bet at least some of the congregation would be outraged
I'd like to think this true - but I believe those who would be initially outraged would very quickly accept it as justified (The Society being without fault). All common-sense and reasoning having being abandoned.
hello, this is my first post here and i will try and be breif.
i am not a jw but have an uncle and family who is strong into their belief.
my cousin (his son) is in the hospital and had a bad accident at work.

If I was in your situation and I wanted to see my cousin - I WOULD! If you want to see him, maybe he wants to see you too - HE hasn't said otherwise. Would he be wondering why you haven't visited, would he know that other family are trying to keep you away?

last night i had a dream that a former (stupid) elder called me at 6 a.m. to tell me that he wanted to let me know that he was calling for the body of elders, that they asked him to call me to get together and answer some questions.
i said, "and you're calling me at 6 in the morning?
why???
That's so strange Insomniac - I have heard of people haunting while still alive.Maybe a bit like OBE's? A living person can ''pick up'' the presence of someone having an out of body experience, and think they're seeing a ghost.
I'm a frequent dreamer - and an occassional Lucid Dreamer.
I have 2 dreams that stick in my mind. One is I am on a liner called ''The Empress'' (I have no knowledge as to any liner by this name), and I am preparing myself for a family photograph. I am looking at myself in a large mirror and see a 15 year old girl with straight short hair and a heavy dark green velvet dress looking back.Maybe late 1800's...
The other memorable dream I had was about 15 years ago, and I remember every detail. I am driving along a country road, with my mother. There is an accident and I die. I have an aeriel view of the car (red, topless sports car) and the ambulance, and my Mum who is ok and been tended by paramedics. And me dead, but being ''worked on'' - I travel further toward my dead relatives who are telling me to return, and I don't want to....Last year I bought a red car (not sports, just a sun roof) - and you've guessed it, I've found that same road, and the ONLY time I need to take it is to take my Mum somewhere (new building) that never existed 15 years ago
well, my sil and best friend came to this site on my recommendation (jw).
i just wanted her to check it out without judgement as we have always been able to talk about everything.
she basically was disgusted, said it was full of crap and lies and would never look at it again.
That's VERY sad. Am so sorry for you, truly.
I can understand her 'fear' if she wasn't aware of what was on this site (I think most of us had different expectations prior to joining) but SIL spent MANY hours on here initially, and quite a lot more since. Maybe she's read things here that make her question her beliefs, and that's not something she wants to face right now. YOU are her connection with this site. If you don't visit here anymore, then maybe SIL can pretend it doesn't exist (and her doubts will go away) - put badly, but hope you understand.

these guys all have to be of the 'annointed' but jws say the calling to be of this class ended in 1935. whats with these very young new members?.

I heard similar to Country Woman - that when an ''Annointed'' ''falls away'', he / she is replaced - and that always often means someone of a much younger age.
