New Light?
by jaffacake ini have looked up the scripture (in its proper context).
firstly, it does not even mention "new light" at all!
secondly, who can read the whole chapter and honestly say this is about god's progressive revelation of informaton to an organisation appointed by jesus to teach people truth in the last days?.
-

The Organisation makes its own apostates. As the religion evolves, only those who can adapt will stay with it (a sort of JW ''Survival of the fittest'' ). If you believe in the 'Old Light', you are surely apostate. The
cultreligion I was baptised into no longer exists. The beliefs have long since gone, prophesies failed/changed. I am not apostate. The WTBTS moved/moves its goalposts. God is constant. -

Still clinging to 1914 a significant year in the new book.
by Blueblades in1914 ---a significant year in bible prophecy.
page 215 -- 218 in the appendix section which start on page 194. i won't bore you with the same old same old interpretation of 607 b.c.e.
the seven times, 2,520 years.

Satan started WWI a few months earlier then October, to distract all earthly inhabitants from Jesus' enthroning.
So it was SATAN who assassinated Archduke Ferdinand?!

Why 1914 is utterly true (and so is 607 B.C.E.)
by Terry in1914 is a very significant date for true believers.
faithful and eager students of the scriptures figured out (and "proved") jesus would return to kill the wicked and reward the meek in 1874. the signs were obvious.
but, it didn't happen.

I enjoyed that - jolly good Bible based discussion, thanks Terry

Defd, why are you being so mean?
by Elsewhere in.
it is possible to express one's thoughts and ideas without being so mean to others..

I will NEVER leave the truth. I have realized that the people do not practice what is being taught to them by the FS. Some do. As for the ones who do, i will contemplate thier course and imitate!
I am not familiar with you, but what is your attraction with people who, for the most part, are apostate? As for practicing what is taught by the FDS, you are NOT. You are quite openly communicating with posters who are disfellowshipped. What good are you doing yourself here if your Heart and future is with the Org?

Thanks Danny - did it begin late June-ish? (Lol - I'm sure they can juggle a few numbers, maybe pull the 'Jewish calendar' card). The War ended November 1918 - what happened to the 3 and a half years thing?
...and a quick google of WWI reveals that SATAN wasn't involved on either side.

1914 ---A SIGNIFICANT YEAR IN BIBLE PROPHECY
BIBLE prophecy? I have yet to have this EXPLAINED to me. As for the 'significant developments' , I believe they are claiming credit for prophesying WWI.

Very Very sad. Typical Jdub Love
by Ticker ini wanted to share this recent incident and it really pi$$es me off.
i called my grandfather yesterday who is a believing but inactive jw due to health reasons.
he is 83 and in very poor health and is alone since his wife died 3 years ago.
-
MidwichCuckoo
Ticker - sadly this doesn't surprise me. Don't even 'elders' visit? What about PRACTICAL help as he's alone?
Ellie - you should contact them about it, tell them how disgusting this looks to outsiders
On the contrary, I think they're giving a great witness to outsiders. Also, Christians shouldn't need to be TOLD what is Christian behaviour. If I was in that position, I wouldn't want a begrudging visitor, and Grandfather Ticker has already worked out that they don't want to spend time with him.

Parent sleeping with teenagers
by Fatfreek inan ex brother and i were talking recently and he recounted a bizarre story.
he too left the witneys some years ago, got a divorce, and the two children (both boys) decided to stay with his wife since she was still a jw.. one of his boys (never baptized a jw) confided in him not long ago about the sleeping arrangements after he left.
she told the boys that she was feeling depressed and lonely because of the divorce and turmoil that their apostate father had caused her and asked them (ages 15 and 16) to each alternate and sleep with her every other night.. it took lots of courage for this son to talk to his father about it since he wanted it off his chest.

I asked him if he'd ever thought of any legal action or taking it to the authorities.
Errrr - for WHAT?

Is God Uncaring and Hardhearted?
by Blueblades inmany people think that the answer to that question is yes.
( from the new book released at the dc.
) forget about what the watchtower teaches, what do you think about the question yourself, if you believe in god?
-

Forget about what the Watchtower teaches
The Watchtower? A bunch of Coffin Dodgers who are trying to usurp/pre-empt God?Well - I think the aforementioned revel in the present suffering in the World, but I (in ALL my imperfection, yet made in 'God's Image') could not stand by and see someone suffer and die. And why? To prove a point to someone I could wipe out anyway? I think not.
