"Tear Down the Watchtower Day!"
by 144001 inafter surviving what has been a rather depressing week, an idea suddenly came to me.
after being born and raised in the loathsome cult that is the watchtower, i was deprived of many things, including without limitation all holidays and the accompanying joy that goes with them.
as an adult, i've been celebrating all the traditional "worldly" holidays, but although i enjoy and appreciate them, i've noticed that there's something missing.

Apostates - blood on their hands?
by slimboyfat indon't you think the witness leaders would have given up the blood doctrine and 1914 by now had not apostates made such big things of them?
haven't they been painted into a bit of a corner where, if they tried to adjust things on blood now, everyone would come down on them like a ton of bricks?
if apostates were not so vigilant in watching the witnesses' every move, perhaps the governing body would have tried to drop the dubious doctrines by the back door, like so many others that they have discarded when they did not feel to closely watched (organ transplants, for example).

Not too sure about the blood thing, but I used to feel the same way about 1914. Apostates need to do nothing to bring down the Borg. The Borg paints itself into it's own corner. Most recently...the definition of "generation". It will always be with us, but it's numbers will diminish, slowly and surely. Education destroys cults.

Good for you, U/D. Glad you had a blast. Pink Floyd and Monty Python...it doesn't get much better.
BTW, why is all the best British stuff named after a guy? -

Another 607 / 587 BCE question, How do JW's fix the 20 years ??
by run dont walk inok, since all the evidence and people/scholars etc, all agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce and not 607 bce.
how do the jw's get the extra 20 years, i understand the 2520 years and going back from 1914. but alot of the proof goes by adding up the kings reigns, and it gets you to the 587/586 date, do jw's simply add on a few years for each king, or is their a mystery king that ruled for 20 years that only they know about.. hhhhhhmmmmmmm.
hope my question makes sense.

I am an alcoholic. I am also a recovering alcoholic. I've been going to AA for over 2 years now.
Non-alcoholics don't have any idea what we suffer through. Our addiction harms everyone around us, especially family and friends...those that love us.
Alcoholics will never change unless they want to. Therefore, people that love alcoholics have two choices. 1)Leave them to self-destruct on their own, protecting themselves in the process, or 2)sticking with them, empowering themselves in the process, and calling the alkie on his shit. There is a self-help program for people who love an alcoholic and choose the latter. It's called AlAnon.
I think that a person who loves a JW is in much the same situation. You can't help your JW mate. Only he/she can. Maybe someday they will, maybe they never will. There is nothing to do for him/her. The only thing you can do is empower and educate yourself. That's not cheating on your spouse. That's making yourself better so if they chose to better themselves, you are there for them.
That's how you should view this board.

grissom-Introduce yourself!
by Sparkplug ini know that you are new here, but have left yourself open to some comments.
i have been curious as to why you post.
do you have doubts?

I want to welcome you to the board, Grissom. I haven't been here long, so I'm not much more than a newbie myself. I replied to one of your posts on another thread, and if I sounded insulting, I apologize.
You are absolutely correct. This is a Jehovah's Witness discussion board and you have every right to be here and voice your opinion.
There are a lot of angry and bitter people here. I can occasionally fall into that category if I allow myself. I try not to, but it gets the better of me sometimes. There are also calm and thoughtful people here. I don't fall into that category near enough.
Please do yourself a favor. Look past the anger and name-calling. Think. Read. Use your brain. God gave it to you for a reason.
Robbie
Edited to say: Although it may not seem like it at times, people are encouraged to think and form opinions here. That is the one thing that differentiates us from your WTBTS. -

As a matter of fact, Kathy is a very nice monkey.
People here will jump your shit for any number of reasons. The less cause you give them, the better.
I find it best to spell and grammar check everything before I hit submit. These guys are assholes and will call you on everything they can get away with. Personally, I give them as little as I can. However, I give the ladies all that I can. Even that isn't very much -

are JWs allowed to shave in the under regions?
by tsunami_rid3r injust curious, since they control how we dress, how we're suppose to fuck, how we act.

LOL, it happened to me. I fooled around with my JW wife for a year or so before we got married. We were both virgins. We fooled around a lot before we got married. Never any intercourse, but she made sure I figuresd out where her clit was.
Years down the road, after marriage and 3 kids, she felt the need to "confess" to the elders. I talked her out of it. She's now remarried to a different JW husband. I sometimes wonder if she's told him where her clit is -
