I'm with Moshe! This child was taking a break from battle, from what they call Theocratic Warfare. In my unlegal opinion any judge in this U.S.A. would say that the boy is fair game. Moments before and after this incident he was engaged in offensive maneuvers.
Far different than if the child was at a soccer game, or hanging out at the mall, or in his front yard. In those venues I'd use more caution and discretion.

BeepBeep: News to me! Solid medical evidence has always been accepted around here. A competent medical examination and statement from the doctor has been used in a couple of cases I am aware of.

that's right, guys and girls, i'm going to meet with at least two elders this saturday.. before you get ya britches in a big 'ol wad i can explain everything.. it's like this... well, a good friend asked me yesterday if i would be willing to meet with some jw's who have been having a 'bible study' with him for 5 or 6 weeks.
it appears that these jw's are elders and they have informed him that he is not a christian.
he asked them if they would be willing to discuss their beliefs with anyone and everyone so that he could be sure what they are telling him about not being a christian is true.

And, so predictable, the WT answer. When in doubt, the JW can always "wait on Jehovah" -- er, wait on the GB's self-described ability to read between Bible lines. If it doesn't say anything directly, they will be there to fill in the blanks they think the followers so desperately need.
We have here a classic case of a couple which has been deemed acceptable by both parties -- God (in his eyes they are always married despite a Caesar divorce) and Caesar (in their eyes, at least in 42 U.S. states, who no longer cares if the two decides to cohabit again) .
Kinda gives you a warm fuzzy feeling that we have some third party janitorial comittee willing and able to step in to cast judgment which can, in turn, result in their patented shunning and everything that goes with it?

You decide to stay legally divorced. The state you live in (as of 2001 only 7 of the 50 states still classify cohabitation as illegal) has no problem if you decide to shack up as often as you like. Fact is, a sheriff in any of those exceptions is not likely to come pounding on your door.
And remember, in Jehovah’s eyes you are still married.
So what’s the Society’s problem if you both decide to get back together on occasion – or just have a fun weekend together?

the eb are, however, more strict than the jw's, not permitting tv watching, their kids are not allowed to go to normal schools, the woman must wear something on their head, etc.

Someone on this board clued (a Firefox user) me in to Xinha Here! It's free, of course, and once installed, simply right click in the forum window. That will bring up Xinha's editing window which has many of the frills we normally don't have. When you finally click OK or Apply, that in turn places your text along with the html codes into the forum window. Yes, you can also insert graphics as well as hyperlinks.

i have a non jw friend who has a jw sister.

I have a non JW friend who has a JW sister. They were both raised JW. While he is not shunned he feels alienated because of his refusal to accept their “truths”. He tells me that he will never get baptized because of their shunning policy.
Nevertheless, he misses the family bonding.
In an effort to get closer to her and their family he has started to attend a few meetings and has even started a home Bible study. He is currently experiencing the “love bombing” that new ones report and his family is accepting him.
I tell him I think their acceptance is conditional, that they sense they have a fish on the hook and that unless he continues to progress they will begin to distance themselves.
He is a widower and has recently begun dating. I tell him that once it becomes obvious to congregation members that he is not as chaste as they’d like, there may be some kind of “marking” announced despite the fact that he is not baptized.
I say “may be” since I’m not sure about this point.
