When I was a witness, I thought we didnt' celebrate Mother or Fathers day. Then in my 20s a sister told me there was nothing really in print about us not celebrating these days, so I started sending my dad Father's Day cards, since he was never a witness and I knew he felt bad I didn't celebrate other holidays. Then a one or two yrs later the School Brochure came out specifically mentioning Mothers day and Fathers day. So out that went out the window! :( but now of course after quitting, I send them again, as well as celebrate other holidays.

Mother's Day & Father's Day
by TheListener in.
do you know of any witnesses who celebrate these holidays?
kind of like the way some go to a special dinner or something on their birthday.

I hope they catch him. It so angers me the way the congregations do not protect the 'flock', ESPECIALLY the children. And yet, you know if someone did know and tried to warn other parents to take care, they would have been disciplined. This is all so wrong.

Just got my copy of In Search of Christian Freedom
by Goldminer inmy book came in last week and i picked it up on thursday.i was nowhere near as nervous as when i purchased crisis of conscience.so far i've read the first 2 chapters and i will definitely learn a lot from this book,it's a real gem of spiritual truths and christian freedom.. while i was in the christian bookstore picking up my book i took the time to order 2 more books.. -the gentile times reconsidered.
-combatting cult mind control.
i'm looking forward to reading those also.hopefully i can subtely share some of this material with my family members who are still deeply brainwashed by the wts.. goldminer

I guess there were fleeting moments when I enjoyed them. Mostly if I had studied and prepared thoroughly. Usuaully though it was the opposite. I was relieved when they were done.

How did you adjust to the world after leaving JW land ? friends/lonliness ?
by run dont walk inhow long did it take you to adjust to the real world ???
and make real friends, who didn't care about religion.

It has been bitter sweet for me. On one hand I am happier, being free from rules that say who I can have for friends, what I can do with them, etc, However, because I was a witness all my life, the majority of my friends were witnesses and so when I stopped associating, very quickly I lost nearly all of my friends. So I went from a some what social butterfly to a bit of a loner until I could rebuild friends outside the kingdom hall. I am still working on it, but it is easier now than it was when I first lost my old friends

Good thoughts
by talesin in.
15 things you probably never knew or thought about 1. at least 5 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.. 2. at least 15 people in this world love you in some way.. 3. the only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.. 4. a smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.. 5. every night, someone thinks about you before they go to sleep.. 6. you mean the world to someone.. 7. if not for you, someone may not be living.. 8. you are special and unique.. 9. someone that you don't even know exists loves you.. 10. when you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.. 11. when you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.. 12. when you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.. 13. always remember the compliments you received.
forget about the rude remarks.. 14. always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.. 15. if you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

i cried at the drop of a hat and was very, very sad -- about what i didn't know.
