  Are JWs really persecuted?

  i find it interesting that the wts has this persecution complex.

  apostates all out to get them and stuff.

  i must say that although a search on the web will bring you lots of great anti-jw stuff(thier own fault because they only have 1 official website) the number of people actually trash talking is quite small and its mostly ex-jws and some still in the org.

  The Morality of the Future!

  i've been seriously taking a step back lately and criticizing and analyzing my beliefs, especially during meetings since there's nothing better to do.

  however, every time i do this i can't help but think of the future.

  how do you guys view the general moral bases of the future?

  The standards by which 'morality', 'ethics', 'right' and 'wrong' will be judged in the future are likely to be as strange to us now as (for example) the 1960's were to those born in the 1920's. My personal view is that when we finally see the eating of peas with a knife as the height of manners, the picking of one's nose in public as a sign of respect for those round us, and the obligatory first-thing-fart as the best way of saying 'good morning dear' . . we'll ALL be better off.

  Better to Burn Out or Rust?

  is it better to live life hard treating your body like an amusement park and doing things like partying hard, hang gliding, skydiving, extreme sports, etc.

  or to pace yourself eating all the right foods, avoiding dangerous pastimes, watching your cholesterol, etc.

  for a long and possibly duller life?

  i've 'eard that that chap who runs the frogs just east of the uk has turned his attention to the scientologists .

  and that the dubs are pretty peed off with the lack of recent attention - seems the chat on the rialto (well, le pont, i suppose) is that the dubs are now scheming to get back in the news by planning some dastardly plot to discredit even the lesser cults .

  any update would be gratefully received.

  LOL . . picking holes in my geography ? . . well, I would have said "to the right of the UK" but that implied politics as well as direction . . and if you go EAST (and maybe south a bit) from Dover you hit . . .err . . what - France last time I looked at a map (and I have to admit, that was some time ago and the whole atlas was mostly pink, denoting the British Empire) - still, unless it's moved, France is generall speaking to the east (as opposed to the west) of the UK.

  Charles Russell: What caused his death?

  i would be interested to know how charles t. russell actually died.

  it's said he died on a train in 1916, but there are no specifics.. did he have a heart attack, cancer or something?

  was there any report made by a chief medical examiner?

  Heard on the Rialto - well, actually the bridge over the Up line from Anerley to Balham - that the particular train in 1916 was the subject of an internal enquiry by the SIS . .. seems the mid-war scenario posed a few additional questions on the political (as well as ideological) activities of the aformentioned Charles Russell . . . any comments ?

  Pipe bomb at Bethel.

  does anyone remember the incident that happened back in the summer of 1974 at what was called the "squibb" building at bethel where a pipe bomb detonated at one of the doors just under the bridge that spanned the complex across columbia heights?

  i was at bethel at the time and i even have a picture of two nypd cops standing in front of the scene the day after (if i can only find the picture).

  i was thinking of posting it on this forum but i don't know how.

  I think it just goes to show that pipes are just as bad as any other form of smoking . . and the fact that a NYPD chap was there to mark the occasion is proof for me that even the police can't be trusted when Dubs phobias are involved . .sheesh - what a world

  Org Limits JWD Forum Activities ??

  is it true that the org are stopping the jwd forum from re-activating the chat room facility because it allows instant discussion rather than the stilted question / response of the threads ?

  is this a sign that this site is not as distant from the org as we thougth ?

  is there a paranoid in the house ?

  Maybe Simon (and no offence to Simon as I don't know him) is in the pay of the Org . .. and the CHAT will NEVER be available because it allows toooo much direct communication between the anti-dubs .. and THEY don't like that
