Hi luna14,
Welcome to the board..
I too, felt that I couldn't pray, due to the teaching that my prayers would go no farther
than the ceiling. I still struggle with the thought that I am just talking to myself when I
try.
I have been out of the organization for almost 10 years now and I still have not found
my "Spiritual" place. I am searching tho.
Leaning a lot towards just "Inner Peace" without man made rules, I am sure you will find
a lot of useful information here.
Again Welcome,
Cas

i hope you will see the pictures.. .

Beautiful pics. I love the Fall, we really seemed to have gotten
cheated this year in Indiana...
We too have lots of trees and used to rake every year until blue in
the face. My Hubby decided one year to mow over them instead, and we
haven't had to rake since. It worked GREAT...

Being prejudiced
by purplesofa ingrowing up, my mother was very prejudiced.
mostly against black people.
i had no choice on the matter of my skin color.
-
Casper
UGH.... I despise racism...!! I can remember being about 6 years old and hearing my
Grandmother go on and on about Black people. I knew what she was talking about at
even that young age, having been born in Chicago...there were some black people in
my world.
She sickened me... I know, I know I was very young...but it just touched a major nerve
in me that never went away... She even named her dog the -N- word.
In my life I have and have had some very good friends of several different racial groups...
I really don't see the problem. People are people to me.
The lack of racism in the JW's was one of the things that drew me to it...but alas...that
turned out to be a joke also.

most disturbing movie scene you've seen?
by knock knock ini haven't seen this topic on here so i thought i'd.... hmmm, maybe it's because it's just too disturbing?
to me, the scene in saving private ryan - the two soldiers in the small upstairs room fighting hand to hand to the death (by stabbing).
i think that is the most disturbing thing i've seen on screen and there were plenty just in that film alone.

What Dreams Have you Had, and have you Talked in Your Sleep ?
by flipper innow here is a little different subject we haven't discussed much.
i read a book a while back about dreams called, gestalt therapy verbatim , by frederick perls, a well known psychologist .
his take on dreams, without getting too deep, was we dream about unfinished situations in our lives which are troubling us still .

I posted this in another thread earlier this year :
I have been widowed twice, once at 28 and again at 41...
Since that time I had vivid dreams of both Husbands.
My first Husband, started out with me looking for him, everywhere. I remember being in a room full of phone books, stacked from floor to ceiling. I sat among them, going through them one by one. Other times people would tell me they saw him somewhere, and by the time I would arrive he would have just left.
Over time I would arrive just in time to see him getting in a vehicle and leaving. I was never able to catch up. This progressed to where He would respond to my calling for him.. by turning and smiling at me.
This went on for a period of years, off and on. It came to the point that I would receive phone calls telling me he would be such and such and for me to be there. I never knew who it was on the phone, I would go and wait for him. He would arrive, but never speak to me, just smile. There was always other people around.
Again over time, we were finally in the same place, sitting at a table outside, like an outside cafe. We finally talk, he tells me he has met someone and that he is happy. I also tell him the same. We part friends. And the dreams end for good. This took place over a period of 15 years. It's been 9 years since the last one.
My Second Husband (a JW) is always in a Suit. Usually we are in line at a cafeteria (school lunch style) he never speaks to me, just nods and smiles. Sometimes I am standing right behind him..but, I am afraid to touch him.. It goes thru my mind that maybe he is not real.
I have this dream off and on for a couple years...more or less the same. Finally we met in a public place and he tells me that he has met someone and that he is Happy. I wish him well and we part friends. This took place over a period of around 6 years. It has been 4 years since the last one.
I never tried to touch either of them... it seemed off limits. These were VERY vivid dreams.
I have never dreamed of thier actual deaths, one a violent death, the other sudden physical illness.
I don't know what any of this means, just my personal experiance. I feel that it's just the minds way of coping with emotions and helping the innerself come to terms with the traumas of both situations.
I do have to say, it seemed really odd, the way they progressed...always moving forward, until resolved. I also think it odd that they both told me the same thing !!

My Mum's gone
by shell69 ina few months ago i noticed that my mum had put her house up for sale, she doesn't live far from me and i had occasion to drive past her house.. well i've had a funny unsettled feeling all week, and i drove along the back of her house yesterday, and all the curtains were gone, she'd obviously left.
feeling brave i drove round the front, and yes its empty, doesnt look like she's been gone long.
i got out and went in the back garden, and looked through the windows.

Wow… I had to come out of lurking to comment on this…….
I can not believe the levels people will stoop to, to try and prove
a point.
In response to your statement.. "Does she think this will make me come
to my senses ?"
There is NO WAY that would work for me… I didn’t shun anyone the whole 13
years I was a JW. I couldn’t do it. To think of shunning my own children, totally
and completely, "Just Boggles My Mind."
What do they think will happen, you go back to the religion and all of a sudden
"YOU" believe everything, all of the things you learned since…. Just disappear…
Ugh… makes me sick.
I personally do not have any family that are JW. But, my "Worldly Family", in
want of a better word, never treated me any different in any way… even tho they did
not agree at all with the religion… That is Love..
I am so Sorry… (((((Hugs)))) I really hate that you have had to endure this.
