in the mid-to-late 90's i remember the new trend was that a lot of the people that were jw's started pulling their kids out of regular public school and started homeschooling them.

the absolute worst were the kids who had been homeschooled from kindergarten all the way until they graduated.

those poor kids were the most weird, unsocial, naive,sheltered, unadjusted, and uneducated kids i'd ever met.

I was in, during the "Home Schooling" trend. Several families were into it.

My oldest daughter went to public school till 8th grade. We finished High School at home with a Home School program. It cost $700 for the 4 year program. She did her work, took the tests and we mailed them in for grading. She finished the 4 year course and Graduated... I am really proud of her for sticking to it until completed.

My youngest, I home schooled until the 5th grade. When her father died, I just couldn't concentrate enough to really help her. We both went to counseling, where they suggested the best thing for her was public school. It was scary, and hard for her to adjust at first.

She took off with flying colors tho....went to NYC for her Senior trip & Graduated last year....So glad I took their suggestion...

Since they both had some public schooling.... they were able to learn to get along and socialize with others.

I wouldn't do it again tho.......I feel it caused them to miss out on so much.

Late Model Toyota For Sale

i told a friend that i had just seen a late model toyota down the road, in front of a house, with a price marked on it of only $900!

well, hasn't the watchtower told us for over a hundred years that 'the end' is just a little farther down the road?

and then they were mad at me for asking the simple question, 'i don't want to appear to be disrespectful, but are you guys sure you know what you're talking about?

I enjoy posts dealing with "New Light" and the discussions that follow the most.

In posting, I enjoy answering questions about experiences as a Dub. Welcoming new ones, offering support to those having a bad time, some of the fluff threads, & light discussions on scriptures... nothing too deep for me, I had enough of that in the borg.

I enjoy the posters with a sense of humor, and the ones that really have a way with words, such as, but not limited to, Hillary Step.

This Past Week Has Been Hell!

last friday morning, my wife was attacked while waiting to transfer between buses.

normally, she has the car, and i commute to school, however this day i had to take the car in for some repairs, and then commute to school.

she fought off this guy for some time, and walked away with scratches, scrapes, and some bruises.

Wow, your poor wife... I am so sorry you both are having to deal with this. No, it's not your fault... things just happen.

Support each other and be grateful it didn't turn out any worse.

I more or less walked away 10 years ago. I also haven't been back in a Kingdom Hall since.

I have no idea what my status is in the congregation, "But" I have been greeted warmly by some I was close to, within the

last few months. They stopped and chatted, nothing spiritual tho. So would have to say I am not DA or DF.... so who knows.

Could a JW lifer not know about theocratic warfare?

i was just looking at another thread about lying.

it reminded me of a discussion i had a while back with my husband, who has been a jw all his life (dfd now).

i brought up lying and this term "theocratic warfare," which i had never heard before, but found online.

Dubs and doorbells -- has there been some "new light"?

this afternoon my husband looked out the window and saw two unmistakable dubs shuffling up our street.

he didn't have time to warn me before they came to our door (he knows i get a bit testy whenever they visit).

i was in a nearby room, but heard nothing, saw nothing.

They must have knocked with a Q-tip because even my husband, who knew they were there, couldn't hear them.

Yeah, I am guilty of the "Fake" knock, now and then when I went door to door.

Went with some that would practically beat the door down, and one pioneer Sister, carried a golf ball to rap on the doors with...talk about dedicated.

AARGH it happened again

2 weeks ago,,some thugs smashed out my windows at my shop,,,and about 7 weeks before that,,smashed windows again.

today, i get to work,,,,sheesh they did it again,,,,,now what?

have to reasses it all.

That is just awful... so sorry you are having to deal with such disreguard for your things. I agree with Quandry, you need a video cam.
