we hung a large american flag on our house.
i must say it looks real nice esp when it waves.
i hope they do my street soon in the door to door work and ole glory waves at them proudly.
for you... !! We have one we put out in the spring.. Liberating isn't it...
Haven't had a witness come to my door in years...

were you considered by others as "the cream of the crop"?
.
did you view yourself as a pillar in the congregation or were you "spiritually weak"?.
You brainwash yourself to stop looking for questions hoping they will all go away, but they still pop up
True, my questions never went away... I just pushed them aside. Thinking there was a problem with me, as we were all told at one time or another.
Also, I agree Minimus... you can't openly question in the congregation... we all know how that goes down... So we suppress it, and become a shell of ourselves.
As for myself.......I just refused to live in the "Box" anymore... I only told one active witness that... and I was shocked that he agreed with me... I had no idea he felt that way... If we had been allowed free speech things might have worked out different for alot of us.
Even tho I had doubts I still worked hard to "Please Man"... and put in those hours and do all that was physically expected of me, as I am sure others have also. Thus, outwardly being a "Good Witness". Mentally, I had to wrestle with it.

I didn't totally buy into it all... (too many little things bothered me, & I asked too many questions sometimes).
But, I did "toe the line" and was faithful in even the smallest things, to the point that it was driving me insane.
The stress of it got to be too much. So yeah, I was a "Good" witness...

it felt good!
i took that huge plastic bin that contained multiple copies of all the books given out by the society, all the old wt and awake's that i had, the year books, etc..... and threw into the city dump.
my boyfriend thought i should maybe bring the literature back to them and i said "hell no.... so they can give it out to more innocent people.. he agreed.
They've printed millions of copies of that crap
Hortensia,
That's true, now that you mention it... I remember at the time the Sister that gave me most of them, she made such a big deal out of how rare some of them were. Come to think of it, "IF" they were so rare, why was she giving them to me...
carted that stuff around with me and didn't get rid of it for 7 long years! Finally two years ago I dumped it all (with the exception of the Bible itself).
Moxie,
I too kept my Bible... just couldn't throw it out. Also kept the "Reasoning from the Scriptures".... I use them for reference sometime.
Cas
greetings and warm wishes to everyone out there...
this is my first post here on the site, though i have spent many countless hours as a guest reading and reading your posts and conversations.
they have been a great encouragement to me, who as a young woman was disfellowshipped from the society about nine years ago.
Welcome Moxie ,
Enjoyed your post.....
I personally have not had to deal with this situation, many here have similar stories tho. I am sure they will be able to offer you encouragement and support in helping you to deal with your pain.
Hope you stick around, look forward to learning more about you.

i'm just wondering what everyone's favorite brand and type of ice cream is.
i recently have been able to eat dairy products after having my gall bladder removed.
i always thought i was lactose intolerant, but all along it was my g.b.
Congrats on getting to enjoy "Ice Cream" again...
Totally love... Butter Pecan from Baskin Robbins,
Some local brands... in "Black Walnut" and "Cherry Cordial" flavors, are heavenly...

Took all of mine to the dump several years ago... sometimes I regret doing that, since I had several of the old books that are
so hard to find today. Oh well... It was liberating...

just had my third child - still in the dazed, lack of proper sleep and food phase.
i have to say - credit to my wife and all you mothers out there, how the hell do you go through it!?
i had that numb, helpless, car crash look as she went through the wringer and all i could do was pass the gas and air and mumble - 'you're doing really good.
One push at a time!
So True....!!!
"CONGRATULATIONS"... on your new arrival...
Enjoy..
