I love the sound of church bells too, I grew up in a village with a really old Welsh chapel, my house was on a hill above it and the bells could be heared clearly, every now and then in summer there would be a wedding, I used to love it although I never actually thought about it till now (8 years after I left home).

It's cool to live near a church
by Cygnus ini don't go to church, but right now they're playing god bless america and i can hear it and it's just cool.
i like seeing the parisioners walking in and out when i drive by and seeing them fire up the huge grill on saturdays for cookouts.
just something i wanted to share this morning.

Yeah, this is just one of the many teachings I could never get my head around, when I actually believed I would often think to myself 'I wish I never knew the truth', also I wondered at one point if it would be safer to kill myself and have done with it.

I guess it depends on what church and who you are, I know a couple of exJWs, they got disfellowshipped a couple of months ago and they live 3 doors up from the Kingdom Hall, now thats not cool.

3 Months Today
by PaulJ in3 months ago today my life changed indescribably for the better.
before i was always feeling guilty about leaving the witnesses and just counting the days until 'armageddon'.... trying not to think about being bird food and getting on with my life as best as i can.
sometimes i used to get nervous if there was a really bad thunderstorm.... i little voice in my head told me it could be the end.. but now im free, thanks to this site and the people on here.

Maintaining "Paradise"
by DelTheFunkyHomosapien inhow do the dubs explain paradise working?
i am by no means across any religions theology so dumb this right down people.
pull me up if i'm wrong but they say after i and 99% odd of the worlds populace gets smited (sp) that the jw's or at least 144,000 of them will inherit the earth.

Ellie
Talking about over population, I once heared someone say that if every person to ever have died was resurrected they could stand shoulder to shoulder and still not fill up the whole of the British Isles, I'm not sure how they worked that one out but thats what I heared.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF APOSTATES ?????????+
by vitty inwhen you were still in the org, did you ever wonder what the apostates were saying?
the society would just say lies and half truths.i always assumed it was about the trinity, and other religious stuff.
i thought they were exjws who had become born agains !.

When I was studying I went to an assembly and outside there was a scruffy looking man with a bike, he was shouting something and he tried to talk to me but the old bag that I was studying with dragged my arm to get me away from him.
She told me he was an apostate and that I should never speak to them because they are working with the devil and want to stumble young ones like myself.
The whole experience gave me the creeps (I was only 16) and even now the word 'apostate' has creepy connotations for me.

No longer here to irritate.
by defd ini have been talking to a few people here privately and i came to the decision that i will not post anymore here.
those few individuals i talked to were nice and the way they were treated by the "friends" was all too familiar to me and it makes me truely sad.
i also see that some on here are not so nice.

Thats a shame, everyone is entitled to their opinion and it would be a boring world if we all agreed, I for one have been truly entertained by you.

Which meetings did you hate the most?
by JH inout of the 5 weekly meetings, here are the ones i hated the most.. in order.
1. theocratic ministry school ( i hated speaking in public) got me so nervous.. 2. service meeting ( too much crap and statistics and presentations).
3. the book study ( just a waist of time ).
-
Ellie
I didn't mind the book study so much because of the food at the end, and the public talk was sometimes ok, depending on the speaker and the subject, but the others were just way too boring.

I like to read all sorts of books although you are right I don't get much time at the moment, any spare time I do get I spend on jwd, the best book I read recently was 'A Boy Called It', a little depressing but well worth a look at.
