I do believe that there is a god because of creation, but I don't think hes the god of the bible and I don't think he wants to make himself known to us, I think he just wants to let us get on with things and do good because we are good people not because we want to keep in his good books.

Are they really still in child care?
Blimey!
I hope they've been given some training.
By the way, I had a dream last night that I'd won the lottery so it must be true.

Haha, don't worry, no offence taken as I'm English, only living here.
About the programme, it just didn't make any sense, one little boy says he talks to ghosts and so all those kids get taken into care, no evidence, nothing.
Did you read the end bit, it said they spent a total of 34 years and 5 months in care, I just can't believe it.

I'm watching it at the moment, its really wierd, they took all those kids without any evidence of abuse, and it seems like the social workers actually abused them mentally and emotionally, all very odd, it seems hard to believe it was only 15 years ago.

JW literature
by KW13 in.
recovering from being a jw is hard as hell, all your structure and life is built on study, ministry and meetings.. leaving is like someone after stacking up boxes to make steps, pulling the bottom box away...but the people who make it through become strong people and rebuild their lives, make new friends and move on.. what i want to ask is could you read literature by/for jw's now you have left?
i think yes, my reason being is i know that they play with information and then change ideas, there is evidence of this in older literature.. as for current literature i wouldn't bury my head, yes i don't agree with what they say but i am not afraid to point out things.

Is it always ethical to try to help someone get out?
by wanderlustguy inis it ever better or ethical to let someone go on believing in the truth even though it is a lie?

Some people such as older people who have been in a long time would have big problems trying to adjust to life outside of the congregation, and to take away their hope of an afterlife would be cruel.
However, I wouldn't want to be the one to decide.
Anyone young enough to make a life for themselves again I reckon should be helped out.

How much do you pay for your internet service?
by JH ina few years ago, i had dial up internet with netrover, and cost about 18$ a month, unlimited use.
but it was slow.. then i had videotron here in quebec, low speed internet (cable) for about 29$ a month which was about 3 to 4 times faster than dial up.
now i upgraded it to high speed for about 45$ a month plus tax of course.

What was your first Apostasy?
by Dune ini'm re-reading 1984 and the similarities between the wtbs and the "party" astound me, but anyway, it made me think of the time when i started to get doubts (thoughtcrime).. i remember once at this book study a sister commented about the 1914 and was reciting it's historical accuracy.
anyway, she went on to mention that the demons were probably learning everything about biblical prophecies from the wtbs.
i was 13 at the time but the comment made me cringe, i was thinking "why would superior beings need humans to interpret the bible for them?

I always had doubts, even as a little kid, can't really remember anything specific.
Probably the first real act of apostasy was when I was around 19, I heared a whisper about 1975 and I asked what it was all about only to be told that I needn't worry, it was just a lie that apostates put about, so I asked again when I should've shut up and forgot about it.
