Are things really that bad?
by gringojj ini was just reading a post from someone and it said that the world is a paradise now, we just have to accept it.
it made me think, the jws are always saying how bad things are now and that they are just getting worse.
so im wondering, are things really that bad?

In the olden days if you were unemployed you starved, unless you stole but then you were either slung in a filthy rotten jail or shipped out to Oz.
I'm unemployed, now all I do is nip to the bank once or twice a week and draw out the money the government kindly give me, I don't have to worry about rent because they pay that too and if I'm sick I just go along to the doctors surgery or hospital and they make me better, all free of charge.
Children are educated and there is good sanitation.
Ok, in some countries its not so easy for people but atleast on the whole, the world population is much better off than it was say 150 years ago.
Its just my own personal opinion but I think the world is a much better place now!

I have now felt all the tension drain away!
by AK - Jeff inwe finished franz' books just about 18 months back - and that nailed the lid shut on the watchtower coffin for wifey and i. but i just noticed in the last few weeks that i am starting to feel 'normal' - that is all the tension is gone now.
no guilt nagging in the back of my head, no concerns about being found out [we faded out].
as if it took 18 months to get the mind free and start the process of getting on with it!

I wish I felt so seperated from it all.
I'm 25 now, my parents were disfellowshipped when I was 11, I studied for about a year when I was 16 and started a study again last year with my now reinstated family but finished the study last November but I still find myself believing it, maybe not the rational side of me believing it but certainly the emotional.
I feel anxious all the time, I have actually developed obsessive compulsive disorder and my therapist blames this on the witness' and I feel kind of afraid just being on this website.
But after reading your comments I guess I'll just have to persavier (don't think I spelt that word correctly, brain not working as only just got up).

Do J.W.'s still spank their kids in Kingdom Hall libraries to punish them?
by hubert ini've heard a lot on this subject, and was wondering if it's a common practice?.
can you go to a meeting and almost always see some poor kid getting a walloping in the back room for talking or misbehaving at the meeting?
or is this a thing of the past?.

I took my daughter to a book study last year, she was about 18 months at the time and was her typical noisy self.
Nobody seemed to mind, except for this one woman who kept shaking her head and tutting.
After the meeting I told everyone that I wouldn't bring her again but they all insisted I should, but I just thought, why so this woman can complain that a little girl can't sit still and be quiet for an hour.
I havn't been back since.

Did U ever wonder - if the end was so close - why were we building Kh's?
by AK - Jeff ini always wondered why we were not spending the money to build halls in remote and poor areas that needed them - but instead we would build new halls and sell old ones in places where we were seeing little growth.. every congregation in this area has built a new hall in the past 20 or so years.
yet the congs are the same basic size they were before.
most have had a least one major remodel since building new.

They are trying to buy some land in my town to build a new kh, my sister was telling me about it and she said the land they wanted had fallen through, then she tryed to justify it by saying there must have been something wrong with the land and it was against Jehovah's will for them to buy it, they are having real problems finding more land but that is also because its not the right time and Jehovah will find them land when hes good and ready.
My sister isn't stupid but she couldn't see that the reason they can't find land is the same as the reason for everyone, there just isn't any available.

Bloody disgraceful behaviour of JWs!!!!
by Gill ini think that this week i may have seriously reached the end of my tether completely with jehovah's witness, or those idiots that claim that they're the ones that are only good enough to live forever in god's new system and the rest of us are bird food!.
i have posted a couple of times this week about the horrible things that have happened to my husband's grandfather due to his money grabbing, jw daughter and that was all bad enough.. my eldest son, is now carrying on a sexual relationship with a regular full time pioneer and is staying around her house while her parents are on holiday.
i'm not happy with my son either by the way but at least he's not claiming to be anything he isn't.

My niece once hid a bloke in her wardrobe so that her dad wouldn't find him, this was while she was an auxillary pioneer.
My mum is a compulsive liar and my brother has the worst temper I've ever seen.
None of this would bother me if it wasn't for the fact that they come over all superior and morally perfect.

My mum got told off for letting my brother play with toy soldiers and was told not to buy me any more flower fairies.
My dad used to like making things though and I remember him making my brother a toy gun out of some wood, he was a ministerial servant.
Theres a kids tv programme in England called Grange Hill, its about a school, we were banned from watching it.

spiritualism
by Ellie in.
can i just ask, has anyone ever had any bad experience after buying anything from a spiritualist type shop?.
i ask because today i walked past a shop in my town that sells crystals and things and they do tarrot and that kind of thing, i picked up enough courage to go in to have a look and i saw this lovely fairy candle holder, i really liked it but i am a bit afraid to buy it as i guess i've had it drummed in to me that those things are channels for demons.
