  Talented Witnesses

  did anyone know any witnesses who were really talented at something and gave it up in order to 'put jehovah first'?

  i find it really sad that the watchtower society can restrict such talented people from fulfilling their dreams in order to chase those empty promises of a paradise earth, in a similar way that they stop intelligent people from going on to higher education.

  in my congregation there is a really skilled football (soccer) player.

  I was hounded by football coaches throughtout my high school career, but i'm not sure if that was because of my skill or my size :-P.
  
  However, one thing that has recently started to disturb me was how when i was in the 12th grade(senior year in high school) i was offered a 15,000 a year stipidend and free ride to any college I wanted if I worked for the NSA. People usually had to apply for this, they had it given to me personally.
  
  I asked an elder about it and he convinced me to turn it down. The worst part about this is that after i started going to college, the elder stopped talking to me and started to treat me like garbage. It wasnt until now that i'm leaving that he tried to mend the broken ties.
  
  Anyway, i'm applying for a job at the DOD, hope it works out.

  Why do you have YOUR faith?

  faith is the belief in something that there is no proof in.

  christians believe in jesus, pagans believe in goddesses, atheist believe in no god and so on.... so everyone has put their "faith" in something one way or another.

  even if you have put your "faith" in you...what made you choose?

  After its all said and done, i think people just need something to believe in. I dont think anyone wants to believe we got here by chance or that if we died tommorow the shows all over and we'd never have anything else.

  My own mortality never came into question until i stopped believing in the WTBS doctrine and religion as a whole. Instead of scrambling to some other belief i think i'm somewhat of a mix of deism, nihilsm and atheism.

  When i was 13,14 i had a phase when i was obsessed with lucid dreaming.
  
  I had about a year where i was having lucid dreams regularly. Afterwards i read some watchtower article and it made me feel bad so i stopped.
  
  Funny thing is, i havent been remembering my dreams nearly as much as i used. I went from remembering one every other day to remembering them every other month...

  Her mom called the police too, and i'm pretty sure that her mom's voice carried more weight than an anonymous tip, so i know she cant blame me for that.

  She just feels that i was "con"-ing her because i was one of her "pillars of emotional support" and then i told her i was going to dissassociate myself, so that brought up this whole thing about how her dad and I were both screwing up any chance of her having a family in the future. O well, as i said before, i'm just giving her time, if she wants to talk again, fine, she doesnt, fine.

  Sorry, i probably should have re-explained the whole situation instead of giving those links.

  In the beginning of may, a JW friend of mine told me that she found out that her Ministerial Servant father was watching porn, and she wanted me to suggest ways in which she could stop him (before she would have to send him to the elders) i gave her suggestions and that ended that.

  By the end of may, she came to me again and told me that she caught her father watching porn again AND her father was molesting her younger teenaged sister. We had an argument and i had to call the police on her father.

  This brings us to august, they've both moved out, her father is dissfellowshipped and is awaiting trial. She stopped talking to me two weeks ago because i'm going to DA myself..eventually.

  My friend and her sister have both moved out of the house.

  The father is awaiting a trial and he has been disfellowshipped. Apparently, both I and their mother called the police and the father lost custody. He's not even allowed to see them with or without surveillance.

  I told her about two weeks ago that i was going to fade/dissassociate myself, so she's "shunning" me right now. Its ok though, she needs alot of time to figure this stuff out.

  Just thought i'd give one last update.

  years ago, when i was 19 and shp (single hot pioneer), living at home of course, waitressing at denny's, just living la vida loca.

  .. swingle stayed in our home for a district ass.

  after the weekend and as he was saying his goodbyes, he grabbed my face and shook me back and forth and with a wide grin on his face said, "you need to come to bethel to meet some of our bethel boys, i'm tired of these colored girls coming to bethel and taking our boys home.

  I was talking to this white "brother" once and he was telling me how a couple of years ago, black brothers were all the rage and that time is OVER and currently the rage is hispanic brothers. He said it in a kind of "i hope you dont feel too bad now that your magical black powers are gone" sort of way....Que?
  
  When will these bigots realize that theres nothing inherently different between human beings? In the white women i've dated, i've realized that part of the "fun" is how forbidden its made out to be, all it does is fuel the attraction. When guys like Swingle say idiotic things like that, and when parents hide their daughters from me, what do you expect will happen when they go off to college or work in the cubicle next to me?

  whats the worst thing youve done during a meeting?

  years ago, when i was a bit more wicked/naughty/younger than i am now, i thought i would take some drugs just prior to the meeting to see if it would make things any more interesting.

  it didnt, but at least i enjoyed the kingdom melodies tapping my foot to the beat and bopping my head!!

  I'm leaving soon, so i thought what the hell (i really dont care anymore), and lo and behold she reciprocated!

  What ended your first relationship?

  i'm in a relationship now and its my first serious one.

  she keeps telling me that she's scared because she believes i'll eventually get bored with her and start wondering how it feels like with other women.

  so she wants me to hook up with other girls when she goes out of the country for the fall semester.. personally i dont want to, but this is making me wonder, in the average person's first ,serious relationship, whats the cause of the breakup?

  She keeps telling me that she's scared because she believes i'll eventually get bored with her and start wondering how it feels like with other women. So she wants me to hook up with other girls when she goes out of the country for the fall semester.

  Personally i dont want to, but this is making me wonder, in the average person's first ,serious relationship, whats the cause of the breakup?

  Is it because one or more of the partners is bored and gives the other the boot?

  Does one of the partners usually cheat?

  Or was it simply infatuation and the relationship was doomed to failure?

  Anything is greatly appreciated.
