At least they get 72 virgins when they die.
We had the prospect of spending millions of years reading scrolls, going to meetings and having picnics we probably would have grown to hate by year 1,334,332.
i mean, you could've been made to be an islamic fundamentalist or something, right?

due to my husbands interactions with my mom with questions about the history of the wbts, i received a phone call from her.
(keep in mind she is 72 years a witness).
i brought up the un thing and she said, thats from apostates.
Tried telling my sibling once. They just looked at me like i was an idiot or that it really didnt matter.
we all know that jw's don't make friends out of their religion, but in the jw religion, can members have close friendship with the other sex?.
my experience in the org.
makes me say no.. i remember one cold winter, i was waiting for a brother in his driveway, and my car was warm, and his wife was waiting for someone to pick her up in front of her home, and since i waiting in the entrance waiting for her jw husband to come out of the house so that we could leave in my car, so i told the sister, his wife, who was waiting in the cold, to sit in my warm car while her lift arrives, so she finally sat in my car, but when her husband came out of the house and saw her in my car with me alone, although she was seated in the back, he told her, why are you alone with him.. gee, they both knew me since years, and we were good friends.
I had female friends in the org. I was pretty sure that if i wasnt so into the religion I would have committed Immorality with at least one of them. Her dad trusted me WAY too much. The main reason i didnt do anything was because i knew he trusted me and i'd felt ashamed. I do regret it now tho, lol. I've talked to alot of females witnesses online through blogs and myspace, we had a correspondance until I told them i left the org and all of them stopped talking to me. I didnt leave yet, but i just thought it would be easier to get rid of em early.
last saturday i was talking to a witness relative and the subject about book studies came up.
all of the sudden, she started talking about how she was kind of bothered by the fact that we werent studying from the bible as opposed to a book during the book study.
she went onto say that people in other religions new more about the bible than witnesses, but witnesses just had head knowledge of what the society was writing in the books.

I was stunned. I was thinking "this is my chance, all i need to do is water this seed of doubt". So without any forethought, i just jumped into the conversation.
At the end of the conversation, she was leaving saying "thanks dune, you really helped cleared that up".
So in an effort to not sound like an apostate, i watered down my argument and probably strengthened her trust in the WTBS.
This happen to anyone else?
in somalia, gunmen shot to death an italian nun, who worked in a hospital which serves mothers and children.
this came only hours after a leading cleric condemned pope benedict for his remarks on islam and violence.
some think there may be a connection.
Just what we need, another religion based war. I always find it amazing how people can call Islam a violent religion, but at the same time forget that both christianity and Judaism have been used to justify genocide, slavery, the crusades, inquisitions, etc. The least violent religion is atheism.
my daughter has been 'going out' with a black gentleman for the last year.
they are very much in love by the looks of things and have long term plans.. however, opposition has recently come from somewhere i did not expect.
it turns out that he has been very upset with his mother since she made several unpleasant remarks to him.
I noticed that JayHawk mentioned what was the difference between the hutu and the tutsi?
Well there is nothing different about them, but the belgians created a distinction between them and thats why they are fighting.
Race is nothing more than a social construction, used to justify the exploitation of a particular people or it's seperation. Kind of like how the irish, italians and jews didnt have white social status until fairly recently( all within the past 100 years).
I also read an interesting article about how soon hispanics may also be gaining white status.

lol, yeah, i'm kind of surprised that someone would tell that to a 13 year old boy, lol.
Just so you guys know, the more you tell your daughters NOT to date _______ men, the more likely you'll be seeing a _____ man at your next thanksgiving dinner.
You can try to "protect" them all you want while they're living with you, but sooner or later they're going to college or going out into the real world and they're going to try what you have made forbidden.
Thats why I try not to get mad at racism anymore, it ALWAYS comes back and bites you in the @$$ .

Everyone has misconceptions about interracial relationships.
I'm a black guy and the last few of my interests have been white women from my school. Most of their friends like me (sometime too much). But i've had a love/hate relationship with their parents. I cant really blame them considering that we live in a racists and prejudiced society. All i can do is be myself and show them that i'm not what they pegged me as.
I have a carribean upbringing so most of my family expects me to marry with someone of the same nationality. They'd probably get angry if i dated a jamaican, because even if they're black, thats not our nationality. Lots of families (white and black) have their own picturesque imaginings on what they're childrens marriages/relationships are going to be like, and they usually dont like it when the image doesnt come true.
I dont know what part of Africa his mother is in, but she's probably has her own prejudices from what she's experienced from western influences.
i'm trying to fade away.. .
so to make a long story short, i left my congregation without saying so much of anything but to one of the elders.
another elder calls me up tonight and starts talking about how he expected me to be more mature about the situation (keep in mind i havent so much as said more than "hi" to him for the past two years.

Then he asks me "so why'd you leave?" and i say "No reason...". Which pisses him off and sends him on to some tangent about how spiritual minded brothers should be.
Lastly, he says something that kinda made me wonder, he said "You do know that, wherever you go, we have to send a report?". I wanted to ask "Are you threatening me?" but to tell you the truth, i kinda zoned out while he was talking.
I'm just glad i didnt get a shepherding call (the visiting kind, lol).
making a documentary
